This is version 2.0 of my tanking guide hosted here http://www.apotheosisnow.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=102#102. The advantage to following the link is the better format and pop up items.
It's been a while since I updated this guide and I figured the warrior community may wish to see the results. I'll finish the links and reference tags if this post is well received.
This version includes loot from ZG, BWL, AQ and new craftables. I now have more accurate knowledge on blocking, specs and many things.
First let's settle 2 common misconceptions.
1) Warriors and rogues are interchangeable. Very not true. They have two completely different roles. A strait pvp fury or MS warrior can compete for damage but what I wish to address is the pve role. Warriors are tanks! We force the mobs to focus on us and are generally the best at mitigation of damage. Rogues are good for crowd control and in general do more damage by far.
2)Arms and Fury warriors can tank just as good protection warriors. This one doesn't even seem to make sense to me. If dps warriors could tank just as good, why would anyone be a protection spec?
There are 2 things a good tank must do, aggro management through the concept of threat and mitigate damage. These two items come in 3 main ways: spec, gear and skill. Dancing the delicate balance between mitigation and threat control is what defines a great tank from a forgettable tank.
The 3 main points
1) spec
2) gear
3) skill
will be addressed in 3 following installments.[ post edited by Cronedog ]
