BlueTracker News:

February 4, 2008
I found a bug where some posts which had been edited would not be posted (even though they were being archived). This should be fixed, but please let me know if this bug persists. Also I'm still working on making the voting aspect better. Please have patience!

Well it's been a long time since I've done an update. For the most part the site runs itself, though I had to bump up my hosting plan because of the traffic. I just added a voting feature to hopefully help differentiate news posts from fluff posts. Hopefully enough people will vote to make it useful.

Fixed the RSS feed. Sorry about the continued problems with it. Also I discovered that I wasn't limiting the feed which resulted in hundreds (thousands?) of entries being put into the feed. I've limited it to the last 30 entries now. Sorry for all those problems.

Also, I've started spidering the Burning Crusade beta forums. Currently, I'm just tracking the general and raid forums. If any of the other forums get blue traffic, please let me know.

Well it seems the Europe WoW site changed their format a bit, and as a result dates got mixed up. I was able to fix all of the affected dates except 8/31 (which tried to translate to 31/8 and thus resulted in no datetime being saved at all). I've changed all the posts with no date to be date 8/31/2006 00:00:00 which is hopefully good enough.

The new WoW forums are up and so is the new BlueTracker. Old forums can be found in the Archives. RSS and search still need to be implemented and hopefully will be done shortly.

June 23, 2006
I've written a beta version for the beta boards. You can access it here. If you find any bugs or have any suggestions, please let me know via the contact link.

May 19, 2006
I added RSS a few days ago, and just added the customer service forums in their own section today. You can access them from the nav bar in the upper right corner.

Sigh. The Mage forum didn't get fixed when I fixed all the other class forums. It should be working now and I've added as many of the links which still exist. Also, the automated archive script is now running, and added the December posts to the archive on the 6th.

I've started spidering the European English general forum as well. If any other of the forums get enough blue responses that I should spider them, please let me know via the "Contact" link.

It's been a while since I've updated the news section, and I apologize. The class collector script broke Dec 12, and because of the holidays I didn't notice till now. I scraped as far back as I could, but some of the blue posts may have fallen off between now and then.

I also found the bug which was causing the auto retry to fail, and it's been fixed. So hopefully this won't happen again.

August 9, 2005
The July posts have been added to the archive section.

July 11, 2005
Sorry it's a little late, but I added the June posts to the archive section.

June 7, 2005
Added May posts to the archive. Also there was a problem where some warlock posts didn't get archived. That problem has been fixed. If there are any missing warlock posts you would like to see added, please use the contact link and send me the url.

May 24, 2005
Added the interface-customization forum to the tracker.

Also, I'm not really happy with the way the search functionality works at the moment, but I haven't had time to make it better.

April 21, 2005
I added a limited search feature to the site. If no one finds any bugs within a few days, I'll take the beta off the tag. Let me know what you think about it.

April 19, 2005
I made a change to some of the urls to make them more search-engine friendly. It seems that Google and a few other search engines have spidered my site. Unfortunately because the current pages changes frequently, users coming from a search engine to those pages are unlikely to find what they want. I hope to be able to address this issue shortly.

Also I know the collector gets bogged down sometimes when the official site is slow. I hope to add some code to have it recognize abnormally long collection sessions and do some partial caching to mitigate this problem.

April 13, 2005
I made some code changes which shouldn't be noticable. If you find any problems please let me know.

April 5, 2005
The posts from March have been added to the archive.

March 30, 2005
There was a bug which prevented the collector from working overnight. This has been fixed. I'm also trying to think of better ways to get incremental updates when the official forums are slow (which causes the collector to be slow).

March 23, 2005
The collector is caught up now.

I also split out the news into its own page and added the archive section.

March 22, 2005
The collector is a little behind right now. It's trying to catch up but there are a LOT of posts on the general board, and the forums are a little slow right now.

March 18, 2005
Fixed a bug where test posts weren't being added. Sorry about that.

March 16, 2005
Added the test realm forum to the collector.

March 15, 2005
Started adding the original post to the collector. Old posts don't have them unfortunately, and some of the color scheme may look a little odd for the older posts. It should all still be fairly clear though, I hope.

March 11, 2005
Added the class forums to the collector.

March 10, 2005
Fixed a bug where the collector would sometimes stop collecting (in this instance 15 posts in a row were deleted). In the future, a long string of deleted posts may slow down the collector but won't stop it. Also I've consolidated the HTML generation with the wow-general collector to better reflect how accurate the update time is.
