Subject: Tseric: Unsettling Vagueness - Please Clarify
Shamans, keep this post bumped for visibilty, please...

edit: Originally intended for Eyonix, but w/e.

We really could use some clarity in some of these changes. We saw how priests went overboard on their knee-jerk responses to lightwell and Power Word: Shield before the exact changes were communicated. Please don't keep us in the dark while we spin our wheels in the mud with rampant speculation.

Here's a list of changes that could use some further clarification:

Q u o t e:

# Searing Totem - Mana cost reduced.
# Mana Spring Totem - Mana cost reduced.
# Healing Stream Totem - Mana cost reduced.
# Rockbiter, Frostbrand, Flametongue and Windfury Weapon - Mana costs reduced.
# Lightning Bolt - Mana cost reduced.

-- To what extent? 1 mana point? 10%? 50%?

Q u o t e:
Players should also be happy to know that skill levels gained with two weapons when specced with the "Two-Handed Axes/Maces Enhancement Talent" will now be retained should a player unspend this talent point and return to it later.

-- If I currently have 300 in this skill will I need to retrain again when talent points are refunded and I lose this talent?

Q u o t e:
Weapon Mastery, now the new 26 point talent increases the damage you deal with all weapons by 10%.

Lastly, Stormstrike, now the only 31-point talent option in this tree has had it's mana cost reduced and the cooldown shortened to 20 seconds.

-- First, is the 10% factored after the hit? For example, if I hit with windfury, does it calculate the 10% on the weapon damage of the weapon, or add on 10% to the actual hit.

-- Second, there have been many 'bugs' or oddities reported with Stormstrike. Have these also been addressed in the patch?

Q u o t e:
At tier 4, replacing the Improved Healing Stream Talent is Restorative Totems. A talent that increases the effect of the Mana Spring and Healing Stream Totems by 25%.

-- For healing stream, is the 25% added after the +healing bonuses to the effects, or to the base effect of the totem? (more on this later)

Q u o t e:
Healing Way (3 point): Healing Wave spells cast on the target cause an effect that increases the effectiveness of any Healing Wave spell cast on that target by 6% for 15 seconds. This effect will stack of to three times.

--What are the mechanics of this buff? Does lesser healing wave apply to the buff?

Q u o t e:
The last change to this tree affects the 31-point talent, Mana Tide Totem. Mana regen has been increased for all ranks.

--We've seen rank 1 in the talent calculators. How do ranks 2 and 3 scale? Also, any plans for a rank 4 drop anywhere?

Q u o t e:
Deeper into the tree, at tier 5 you'll notice another new talent -- Elemental Devastation. For three points, your offensive spell crits will increase your chance to get a critical strike with melee attacks by 9% for 10 seconds.

--Do crits from searing/magma/nova affect this ability?

Q u o t e:
# Windfury Weapon - Attack power bonus reduced. (This spell's effectiveness will now be more in line with other weapon enchantments).
# Flame Tongue Weapon - Damage increased.
# Rockbiter Weapon - Attack Power increased slightly.

-- We really need to see the numbers on this. Please advise!

Q u o t e:
# Fire Nova Totem: This totem now receives increased damage from effects that increase the Shaman's spell damage.
# Healing Stream Totem: This totem now receives increased healing from effects that increase the Shaman's healing and spell damage.
# Magma Totem: This totem now receives increased damage from effects that increase the Shaman's spell damage.
# Searing Totem: This totem now receives increased damage from effects that increase the Shaman's spell damage.
# Windwall Totem: Greatly improved damage reduced by this totem.

-- Once again, can we please see the numbers for these changes? It would really help.

I know you're very busy, but it would greatly benefit the community here if you would take a few moments to expand upon some of these changes. Thank you for your time.

Rather than divulging specific numbers regarding how much a mana cost reduction it was or how much of a damage boost it was, we would like people to play out the changes on the PTR, rather than get too obsessed about number crunching.

Other points, however:

  • The Two-Handed Axes/Maces has been fixed so that you will not need to skill-up weapons again, should you spec it once and then re'spec it again.

  • Talents in general are factored into base abilities, then have procs or what not on top of them.

    Q u o t e:

    On to the weapon damage.

    Q u o t e:
--What are the mechanics of this buff? Does lesser healing wave apply to the buff?

I've seen this come up a bit. Lesser healing wave will NOT be affected by Healing Way. Kind of confusing, yes.

I know that isn't everything on your list, but it's what I can provide at this time.

    Q u o t e:
Looks like you beat me to my post. All I can say is that I'm incredibly disappointed. Although, there is hope, Blues have posted inaccuracies with the way damage is calculated in the past, I've seen it on the Rogue forums before.

    B

It is possible I am just reading this wrong. Can someone provide a more concise example of how this would be less effective when placed on weapon damage as opposed to after? I think the Windfury example just might not be the best one or maybe I am just not fully grasping it.

Ok, I see. This should be the appropriate equation.

    Q u o t e:
If it is after then we get

    (weapon damage + windfurry bonus)*110%

Sorry for the confusion. AP should definitely be factored in for such an attack.
