Subject: Drysc, I'd like a moment of your time please.
Ok, now if you do read this, thank you. I know that right now, you're being verbally attacked by most of the Rogue community for the Eviscerate book announcement. For that, I appologize.

Anyway, I'd like to ask you something, in all seriousness. Why do the developers feel the need to hold the Rogue class back? By that, I mean their damage output. Having never hit level 60 in my entire WoW career, I can't safely say that a Rogue's endgame damage is "sub-par". What I can safely say is this.

At level 23, Eviscerate is not as good as it should be. I can imagine that at level 24, it will still not be as good as it should be. A Rogue is supposed to be the most powerful class when it comes to single target combat damage. We give up so much for this, and pidgeon-hole our versitility in favor of one thing...big numbers.

Since the Rogue is a melee based class, our damage relies on our gear. More specifically, it relies on gear that inscreases our damage output. I myself use a Pearl Handled Dagger (fiery) and the Cruel Barb to maximize my potential damage.

Yet when I face monsters of equal level, my damage is less then the damage a Warrior of the same gear quality and level can do. I've tested this with a friend of mine, and it is true. From what I read, the same can be said at level 60.

This is an issue. In fact, it is a major issue. Aside from the myth the developers have stated that rogues want to one shot everyone, I cannot see how this makes sense to them. Look at it from the point of the Mage/Warlock argument from before the 1.11 patch. Mages were sub-par in their damage, and Warlocks usually outshined them in everything but teleports and food/water production. If a Mage wanted to have the damage they craved, they HAD to spec into Arcane Power, grab a high damage spell like Pyroblast, and get a trinket to maximize their potential. Even then, they could only do this once every three minutes.

Then 1.11 came. Now, Mages can dish out damage like no ones business, because they got what rhey needed to do it. A better system for their two main elements to synergize. A powerful combination of talents that when used properly turn them into AoE machines of infinite potential. But that isn't all. Their damage was raised significantly with the Crit buffs found in a single talent...Shatter. With Frost Nova and Frostbite, a Mage can look forward to critting as often as a Rogue should.

Now I ask you, Drysc. The Mages recieved exactly what they needed. For ages people complained about mage damage, but they still got a review that, overall, was what they wanted.

I know it's hard. I know that you can ask two Rogues what they want and you'll get twenty answers. But please, hear me out. Let the developers know that Rogues aren't trying to become God. They aren't looking for easy mode. All we want, Drysc, is what we signed up for. Less health and armor then our melee counterparts, in exchange for superior damage. And not in the shape of a hard to obtain book, or a hard to reach talent. Damage in the shape of a look at the game overall. Weapons keep getting better. Stat buffs keep getting better. Give us a way to take advantage of that. Don't force us to sacrifice more then we already have for the damage we should have.

That's all. I'd personally ignore any comments to this thread, as I can already see people twisting this to their own ends. Begging for Eviscerate to scale with weapon damage in a similar way to Ambush and Backstab for instance, which I think is a bad idea. Or asking for more Armor, which is also a bad idea. Lastly, and this is my favorate...asking for a healing ability/ranged damage/mail/etc. For those who don't do this, thank you.
