Welcome to the new phase of the Public Test Realms. The current version of the team realms is now version 0.6.0 in preparation for a release of patch 1.6.0 to the public in the near future. Along with the extensive list of changes and bug fixes in the patch notes, this patch will introduce the new raid dungeon Blackwing Lair. We are currently keeping Blackwing Lair offline on the PTR servers though; it is going through internal testing only.
For this phase of the test realm, we will continue to use the Character Copy and Split Patch technology that we used during the previous patch. Similar to the last phase also, there is still a limit of two (2) character copies per account, so please be sure to copy over the characters that you really want to be playing with.
There are two possible methods of getting your client ready to test on the Public Test Realms:
1. If you participated in any previous split-patch Test Realm phase, if you did not delete the WoWTest directory from your WoW directory after copying your characters over to the Test Realms again, you WILL NOT need to download the patch that is available on the website. If you launch WoWTest.exe and connect to the servers, you will download a new patch that will take you up to the newest version of the Public Test Realm. Keep in mind that you may need to download multiple patches using this method before you have the most recent test version.
2. If you are new to the Public Test Realm or you have uninstalled the WoWTest directory, then you will need to download the new patch provided on the Character Copy web page after you have successfully copied over a character. This patch will split your client into having both the retail version and the test realm version installed at the same time, with two separate executables.
