Subject: Battleground Bugs and Requests (Updated 5/12)
   PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS. IF A BUG HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED THAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO, AND IT'S UNCONFIRMED, PLEASE STATE THAT YOU'RE CONFIRMING IT. Thank you.

    This is a list of bugs seen with the Battlegrounds system, and a list of player requests to improve its efficiency. Please tell me any other bugs and/or requests you find/have, and when I see them I'll be sure to add them. Also, please try to justify any bugs with some kind of proof, or get people to confirm them.

    First note, I have only been able to play on the Warsong Gulch battlegrounds. Therefore I will rely on other players for more information about the Alterac battlegrounds.

    Second note, here is a list of what status' I will use for bugs:
  • Uncomfirmed: This bug is seeking attention. Players should try and test this out and confirm if this is true or false.
  • Confirmed: This bug has been confirmed by the players and/or with an official response to be TRUE.
  • Working As Intended: The bug has received an official response that it is working as it should be.
  • False: The bug has been confirmed by the players and/or with a official response to be FALSE, as in not there.
  • Resolved: This bug has been resolved and fixed.

    Third note, here is a list of what status' I will use for requests:
  • Unrecognized: This request has been unrecognized by Blizzard.
  • Refused: This request has been recognized by Blizzard, but refused to be put in place.
  • Accepted: This request has been recognized by Blizzard, and accepted to be put in place.
  • Testing: This request has been recognized by Blizzard, and accepted to be put into internal/public testing.

    Fourth note, I know people want to report all manner of bugs, but this is specified for battlegrounds. You'll have to create your own threads. Sorry. :/

    Fifth note, it'd be nice if people could try and test some of the unconfirmed bugs out? ^^

    Sixth note, since this thread is growing quite quickly, I'm going to have to stop giving credit. It takes a lot of time. You'll just have to check in now and then. Sorry, and thanks!

    BUGS
  • Black Knight Effect (Status: Confirmed): Players are sometimes put into a Battlegrounds instance without even teams. This has happened to me, personally, twice so far out of five matches.
  • Slip'n Slide (Status: Confirmed): Latency issues are sometimes causing walk/run animations not to show, making everyone "slide" around all the time. Has happened to me in each match.
  • "Objects Are Closer Than They Appear" (Status: Confirmed): Latency issues are causing players to be farther than they appear, making long-distance spellcasting a pain. Has happened to me most of the time in a match.
  • Tougher Than They Look (Status: Unconfirmed): The quest for the Horde to defeat the Silverwing seems to be bugged. I've won most of my matches in battlegrounds, yet this quest isn't completed - either there's a different way of doing it other than winning a match, or it's bugged .. or it's just me.
  • That Same Ol' Tune (Status: Unconfirmed): Towers in Alterac Valley seem to be Alliance-biased. With the alliance, the defenders have full 360 visual on the flag to capture the tower. On horde towers it is secluded in a room with only two defenders, no other defenders have visual on it. Concievably one or two rogues could capture a horde tower, while this would be impossible in capturing an alliance tower. (Reported by Klepto.)
  • I See Dead People .. And I Wanna Touch 'Em! (Status: Confirmed): Not sure if this is a bug or just lag, but many players are unable to loot corpses. The loot box will come up, but immediately disappear along with the corpse before I have the chance to take anything from it. Shift-clicking to auto-loot the corpse also does not work. Mind you, this is for player corpses, not NPC corpses, and it seems to be tied in with players ressurecting. (Reported by Jopan, confirmed by Maverick, further reported by Psyche.)
  • The Good, The Bad and The Deceased (Status: Confirmed): Dying in the battleground as it ends causes a player to be unable to revive at their corpse, and only at a Spirit Healer, causing a 25% loss in durability and ressurection sickness. (Reported by Oburei, confirmed by Enkidu.)
  • Friendly Fire! (Status: Confirmed.): The two "uber summons" for the horde and alliance in Alterac Valley have AOE abilities that affect your allies.
  • Quickly, Get The Fla-- What The? (Status: Confirmed): Flag dissapears for no discernable reason - though, this is speculated to be because the flagbearer logs/zones out while holding it. (Reported by Sjet, confirmed by Sathanas.)
  • Underdog Rogues (Status: Confirmed): We can repair, get food, get reagents, and everything else, but we can't buy poisons without leaving the battleground! Please add a poison supplies NPC so rogues aren't the only class to have to leave to resupply. (Reported and confirmed from multiple parties across the boards.)
  • Attack Of The Killer Sheep (Status: Unconfirmed): When you're polymorphed, and battleground ends, you get kicked out of the game and back to character select. (Reported by Druenal.)
  • A Frost Mage Is In My Computer! (Status: Unconfirmed): When you try to grab a flag in Warsong Gulch, your computer freezes, incurring a manual restart. This doesn't affect everyone, and it may just be happening because of dust, or somesuch. (Reported by Thrull.)
  • Let The Dead Lay (Status: Unconfirmed): People are exploiting graveyards, the horde ones with the rounded stones around them, by standing "inside" these stones; they gain major advantages with their line of sight. This may be occuring in other areas, but not entirely sure. (Reported by Kama.)
  • Mind Control This! (Status: Unconfirmed): If you mind control a player that has NPC aggro the aggro stays on that player until mind control breaks or the player dies. Then the aggro switches to the controller, even if the NPC is supposed to be neutral. Unsure if this goes for friendly NPCs or not. (Reported by Kama.)
  • The Map's Upside Down, Idgiot! (Status: Unconfirmed): Sometimes when you press "M" to get into the Map at Warsong Gulch, it shows the Barrens instead of the battlegrounds - unsure about this for Alterac Valley. (Reported by Oburei.)
  • Night Has Lifted A Bit Too Quickly (Status: Confirmed): Though this doesn't have to do with anything about battlegrounds, it seems important anyways: the warlock talent, Nightfall, seems to no longer work with the new patch. (Reported and confirmed by multiple parties across the board.)
  • What Trickery Is This!? (Status: Unconfirmed): Line of sight issues - players unable to shoot inside of the mine from outside in Alterac Valley. Possibly happens in other areas. (Reported by Seitar.)
  • 10, 7, 4, 23, 42.. (Status: Confirmed): Remove the "seconds" from the estimated times. They don't make sense, meaning they're bugged! Gasp!
  • Shutting Down The Fun, One Instance At A Time (Status: Confirmed): The instance-shutting-down "bug" needs to be made smarter. Players want to play, not spend 5 minutes waiting to see if more people may possibly join.
  • X-Ray Vision, Activate! (Status: Unconfirmed): The fliers seem to be able to acquire targets even when they're taking cover, such as inside of a building, as well as attack them.
  • Who Wants Undead Hearts Anyways? (Status: Confirmed): Forgotten hearts are the only PVP racial drop that doesn't have a repeatable quest. The quest is described as repeatable, yet it isn't.
  • Preparation, Schmeparation! (Status: Confirmed): Players are able to keep armour scraps with them outside of a raid instance, allowing them to save up and get an advantage over the other faction when a fresh round starts. Need official confirmation if this is working as intended, or a mistake.

    REQUESTS
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Maybe we should be able to see/chat with players inside the queue, in order to formulate pre-match strategies?
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Latency needs to be taken care of .. obviously.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Corpse looting should probably be changed; it seems to be on a first-come, first-server basis, regardless of whoever kills it. Kind of unfair for ranged players, when a warrior up close has already gotten it.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Players probably shouldn't be able to use certain spells when they get a hold of the flag. This is due mostly to the fact that Paladins own all in CTF; grab the flag, shield, and speed potion away into the sunset = instant flag capture. Either this, or players should have their movement speed reduced while holding the flag.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Raid/group leaders should be able to put their entire *group* in a queue so that the group sticks together. (Requested by Soni.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Queue should show how many alliance/horde are in an instance currently. That way you could pick one that is about to start. (Requested by Soni.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Instead of just booting you out if there's no enough people, there should be a gate that doesn't open until it's full. You can still leave if you want, but if you want to wait for opponents, all the better. (Requested by Soni.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): A pop-up countdown timer while waiting for an objective such as a tower in Alterac Valley to flip factions. (Requested by Batu.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Would it really hurt to add a flight path(s) to the battlegrounds? (Requested by Oburei.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): For the supplies in Alterac Valley, you have to talk to Yaza once you have enough of them in order for her to send an assault - but, she will only take orders from certain ranks. It may be useful for her to say what ranks she'll listen to. (Requested by Barnack.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Get rid of the World Defense battleground spam. (Requested by Freespirit.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Please do something about players going (A)way (F)rom (K)eyboard with the flag! (Requested by Abdul.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): In Alterac Valley, the shutting down of servers is ridiculous. It may be very difficult to actually win as when a side is losing, they can simply leave and join another battleground, looking for a better situation. If everyone on one side effectively leaves, the instance shuts down, and all of the winning teams hard work is for naught. Also what happens frequently when joining Alterac, is the server is already in the process of shutting down. Therefore, server jumping should be discouraged. (Requested by Aikona.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): People are saying that repairing in battlegrounds is too costly, and want all repairing to be completely removed, or possibly make them free with the cost of X amount of armour scraps. (Requested by many across over the boards.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Put a graveyard at the Mor'Shan Rampart. (Requested by Oburei.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Allow us to join the battleground queues from an Innkeeper. (Requested by Incogniete.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): NPCs in battlegrounds should give honour. (Requested by Icy.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Make the elite mobs in battlegrounds non-tapable...so everyone who contributes in their kills gets something. (Requested by Icy.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Make fewer graveyards making them more important targets to take over or make the death penalty a bit more significant time-wise. (Requested by Icy.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): BG quests should probably give CP instead of XP. (Requested by Batu.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Possibly make the battleground quests for Warsong Gulch repeatable? May have to reduce amount of money received, though. (Requested by Callum.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Possibly remove the diminishing returns penalty from battlegrounds. You can remove the horde/alliance killing each other exploit by having different factions map to different battlegrouns for the same number. (Requested by Icy.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Implement a better "LFG" system inside battlegrounds; possibly something like one player volunteering to be a "captain", which players join with from a menu. (Requested by Skalek and Mud.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Have all players show on the minimap/map while in battlegrounds. (Requested by Mud.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Have all enemy players in sight of friendly players show up on the map, like in Warcraft III.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Possibly make hunters have farther attack range while on towers, at the expense of DPS/chance to hit, or whatever. People want to get really immersed in the battle. (Requested by Neoo.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): It'd be nice to see your sides progress with the troop upgrading quests. (Requested by Typhon.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Maybe BG should require grouping? /shrug (Requested by Bodil.)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Flagbearers should be more distinguishable on the minimap/map, rather than just be a simple "dot".
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Certain key abilities are giving players a huge advantage in the capturing of flags; the paladin shield is a prime example. They should be tweaked for this.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Time limits should be considered, as some of the battles can last for hours upon hours.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): A separate PVP quest log, as it's unfair that a player has to ditch tons of their old quests in order to get them.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Summoned raid monsters need better AI - they're too easily kited.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): Flags should be automatically returned to base after 30 seconds of being inactive. Memory tends to fail players. ;)
  • (Status: Unrecognized): All players should be put into a raid group before starting, and players should vote on a raid leader. Also, group/raid leaders should have different coloured names in order to distinguish them - also make their dot on the minimap/map the same colour.
  • (Status: Unrecognized): In the Alterac Valley, loot tends to get ninja-looted a lot, such as when taking down a summoned raid boss. Some kind of intuitive dice-rolling scheme should be implemented.
