Subject: Cay, I'm sorry you're upset...
As I was typing this reply to your responses on the "one question", but the thread got locked. I'm sorry you're upset, I hope I can shed a bit of light on the situation to you.

First off: Nobody dislikes you, please don't take some of the immature comments here personally. Actually, everyone appreciates the fact that SOMEONE is here, talking with us. After over a year of silence with spurts of generic uninformative information, we have the head CM with us. This is a good thing.

I've read the forums for awhile, never really trolled, with the exception of a few long posts trying to draw the CM's out and get their attention to some rational thoughts. (Like this!)

Nobody likes long posts so here it goes:

Q u o t e:
Call it curiosity if you like, but it was a good way of getting an idea of what your #1 issue was at the time when you didn't have much time to think about it.

Everyone does appreciate this.

Q u o t e:
Am I going to use that information? I'd be a fool not to.

I think you should clarify if you will be using it to help fight the good for for the paladin class, or something else altogether.

Q u o t e:
Am I going to communicate with you on that information now that it's left your hands? Only if it produces results.

Ouch. The way I read this is that if bringing up to the dev team results some nods and smiles with a dismissive attitude, it won't be used...

Cay, we need someone on our side. We need someone at Blizzard to get angry for us! The conceptual idea behind the paladin class is there, but the execution isn't just in left field, it's in another park! The developers need to be convinced of this, or the work they do here will ultimately have to be revamped completely later on in order to attract paladins who are not happy being 31/15/5 after 1.9.

Q u o t e:
Each class forum has to be approached in a different way; they all have their own communities.

I've learned what doesn't work well with you, so I won't be doing it again.

We desire the facts, even more so than other classes. We desire to more than just "know our role", we need to know what the developer's intend of us. See, the crux behind this is that based upon the class's spells and itemization, we are a full on support class. But, from what everything we hear from anyone at Blizzard, that is not our role.

There are mixed messages being sent from what is in game, what is posted here by CM's, what has changed in our "review", what was said directly from lead developers at Blizzcon, how people view us, and how we independantly view ourselves.

Please understand this plight, and you'll begin to understand were the more rational and argumentive of us come from when we say:

We are not happy with the paladin class, no matter what the developers have roadmapped for us.

Epoch, I don't "get angry" at anyone for any class, and I have two level 60s.

That's not the way to get what you want. I know some people believe differently here, but honestly, in a professional environment, yelling in the class team's faces about Paladins, Druids, or what-have-you is counterproductive and only stymies communication between the teams rather than encourages it.

*cough*

What will get results are constructive discussions with examples, proof, and compelling arguments as to why something should be changed. That's what I always ask of players when I seek feedback; I do normally get some of it back, and this is no exception. These compelling arguments are what are brought to the developers. Would I have done so with more ease had I played a 60 Paladin? Yes. Does this render me incapable because I have not? Not really, no. It makes me work harder at it, certainly, but I do.

That said, I will tell you this flat out, because it's true:

The developers will not sit down and tell you what you are. You're seeking a definition that will never come. They want you to define what you are through use of your abilities; they do not and will not tell you what the Paladin "is".
Good daycycle, Citizen!

Q u o t e:
Can't expect Cay to give us an answer to this when the devs don't even know :P

I didn't say they didn't know; I said they won't come out and define the class for you. A notable difference. ;)
