Subject: Caydiem, reasoning behind a lack of a taunt?
If you've explained this elsewhere I'm sorry for repeating it.

But if you could shine some light on the reason why Paladins lack a taunt or perhaps why one is unnecessary. I know you most likely can't discuss game mechanics but I'm honestly a little confused.

I'll use the Prince in DM West as my example. He possesses one of those aggro reducing moves, in his case a knockback, which seem to presuppose the tank has a taunt. I of course do not and had to chase him around. Priest and mage die. We only win because the rogue is decked out in Tier 2 gear and puts out some wicked dps. I believe I never regained aggro, or only right at the end.

I don't want to tank raid bosses, but I feel that the 5 man instances should not be beyond me. Does Prince require a taunt or is it meant for a paladin to be able to regain aggro on him?

That's where the mechanics part comes in. If his knockback sets my aggro to zero, then nothing less than a taunt would work. Or is it some set amount within a paladins ability to regain with mass expenditures of MP?

A simple "Paladins aren't meant to tank Prince and mobs like him without a lot of luck" reply would also be helpful.

Could you shed any light on this?

Q u o t e:
Well why not have one of the trees (say, defensive?) offer a skill that makes a paladin be like a feral druid in bear form? Could be the top level skill, and basically turn the paladin into a warrior (which is what bear form does for the druid).

Because no "tank" is supposed to play similarly. Turning a Paladin into a copy of the Druid's bear form would lessen both classes. :P

Shadowform and moonkin form, anyone?

They still differ in many ways. They're similar, but not precisely the same. Bear form is similar to a Warrior, but not precisely the same.
