Here's how to get 3 crits in a row every time you want to using combustion.
Q u o t e:
Find somewhere without enemies.
Activate Combustion.
Cast level 1 Flamestrike on empty ground; cast it 9-10 times.
Your crit rate is now 100%.
Find an enemy.
Shoot 3 spells at him, all of which will be crits.
I wonder if this is intended functionality. Also, we still don't know:
- What is the cooldown on the new Combustion? Is it still 5 minutes? Ice Barrier's cooldown changed; does Combustion remain the same?
- How do AoE spells work with Combustion when there are targets to hit? Does a crit on a target count, so that Combustion could be used up in one cast? Or is it whether or not a crit happens during an entire cast (in which Combustion will always take at least 3 AoE casts to wear off)?
- Finally, is Combustion dispellable?

I am not sure of the function with AoEs that you outlined here. My initial guess would be that there has to be an actual target, but I am not certain.
I can bring up all of your questions when the devs get in today.

EDIT - Cooldown is 3 minutes.
You have to hit something with the AoE if you want to get an increase. Targetting AoEs on nothing will not tick off the 10% increase.
