There were lots of changes, it's probably best to check them out on the test server.

That's right, the 1.11 changes are to the events that get delivered. No Lua code was changed, so the optimization that you're doing now will no longer be necessary (or more correctly, the optimization you're doing now will be freely available to everyone without any script changes)

Because it's very possible that I accidentally broke something, and the changes will need lots of Q/A and some time on the test realm before I'm comfortable with them going live. :)
