Subject: Slouken: Guild Officer Notes problem
My guild members and I have been having a problem with the officer notes not being retrieved properly for a few weeks now. The problem is that at seemingly random intervals, the GetGuildRosterInfo will start returning "" for the officernote return value, for ALL guild members, including those that do have an officer note set. After a while, the notes do reappear, but it is becoming quite annoying.

I have checked that the GUILD_ROSTER_UPDATE event has fired before I check the notes, and I have also checked with others in my guild and we all seem to be experiencing the same problem at the same time. I have not had any problems with any of the other return values and this problem started a few weeks before 1.9 came out.

Any guesses as to whether this is a UI issue or a server side problem? If it is the latter, then I will go post in the bug forums instead.

Thanks

No idea, I've never seen this happen myself. Let me know if you find out any more details...

Q u o t e:
I know that it should return "" for the officer note if you aren't allowed to see them, however it sometimes returns the officer note anyway. And sometimes it doesn't return the officer note when it should (which is why some people have these vanishing officer note experiences).

As a test just now, I logged into a character who does not have access to officer notes and every so often I ran a script that issued a GuildRoster() call followed by a loop that printed the information returned by GetGuildRosterInfo().

For about the first 5 minutes, I could not see any officer notes. Then I began seeing them. This lasted for another 5 minutes, at which point I could no longer see them. I then stopped running the script for a while. About 36 minutes after I had logged in, I ran the script again and could see the officer notes. At 48 minutes since login, I could no longer see the officer notes.

A second test that I conducted, was to login to a guild master character on a different server than the character I used for my first test. I was able to see the officer notes. I then switched to a different character in the same guild whose rank did not allow him to view officer notes. He was able to view the officer notes for a few minutes before he couldn't. I then switched back to the guild master character, and was not able to view the officer notes for a few minutes, and then I could again.

So, while you shouldn't be able to see the officer note returned from GetGuildRosterInfo() if your rank doesn't permit it, sometimes you can. The server seems to flip between returning the note and not returning the note regardless of your rank and access to the notes.

Thanks, this is fixed for 1.9.3

Q u o t e:
Is this related to why I can no longer add/remove ranks despite being the guild leader?

Nope, please report that in the bug report forum.

I take it, then, that there is no information on the disappearing notes then slouken? I'm still trying to find the time to do some more extensive testing and I will get back to you once I have been able to do that. :)

The officer notes is taken care of, but I didn't see a similar problem with the player notes, they should be fine. You're welcome to post more research if you find out anything more...
