Subject: Game breaking MUDflation in the expansion?
   Or just marketing hype?

It seems to be the general consensus, fed by the CCRs here, that gear dropping from 10-man content in the expansion is going to be on par with or outclass BWL, AQ40, and Naxx gear.

Can this possibly be true?

The way the game is set up currently, even the best drops from 20-man instances only have an ilevel of 68, 8 levels above the maximum player level.

There are items from AQ40 and Naxx with ilevels of 84.

Are they really going to MUDflate this game that hard, where 10-man instances start dropping items with ilevels more than 14 levels over the new max player level? And if they do, just how much higher than player level will they have to push the ilevel of 25-man raid items?

That seems totally out of whack with how they've itemized this game so far, and it pretty much throws all current content out the window.

No one will ever run ZG, AQ, MC, BWL or Naxx again if they do that, not even players hitting 60 for the first time - their time is better spent just leveling up and pushing into the BC 10-mans.

Sure, we all outgrow instances as we level up, but at least with the various 5- and 10-man instances, a person goes there to run quests as part of leveling up, not just to get gear; the raid instances don't offer any such incentive.

Is Blizzard really willing to sell the longevity of the game down the river that hard in order to push more boxes of the expansion?

It may be a bit cheap, but I'm just going to link you to the thread Eyonix replied to on this. He summed it up pretty well I think.

I'm curious though, what does CCR stand for? Because Creedence Clearwater Revival is just stuck in my head as the only possible meaning for that acronym. I wouldn't mind being called a "Creedence Clearwater Revival" though, don't get me wrong. They rocked.

shine on 'til the two become one
