Subject: How does a 25 Man caps help Hybrid Utility?
I would expect decreasing the man cap would decrease the need for hybrids. As being a player in many 5 man, 10 man, 20 man, and 40 man instances I noticed that a player's diversity of abilities is much less pigeonholed in higher man instances than lower instances.

From my experiences, larger raid gorups encouraged a more diverse population of players by creating a larger need on the player base. People are more willing to let one shadow priest into a group of 40 players to dps rather than heal because there are aproximatly 4 other priests to back him up. They won't let the shadow priest dps in a 5 man becuse he is the only one.

As an example, I am a healbot as a main, Lvl 60 priest (Forgive my tag). When I am in 5 man groups my only job I am given is healing, all else constant. My Job doesn't actually change beyond that and I am often discouraged from doing anything else. Thats it, 1 healer, 1 spec. However, when I hit ZG, things began to blend a bit. Multiple priests show up to the raid, each of us with different specs that worked slightly different. Now I was often healing with people who had shadow weaving, or PI for the warlocks. Things got a little more diverse and each of the classes got a little more hybridized.

Once I got to 40 man raids, thats when I actually got to see shadow priests, fury warriors, Feral druids (Post 1.11), and even enh shamans (after their patch).

I would expect that a lowered cap would force raid leaders to "Cover their bases" by picking the specialized classes over hybrids leaving less spots for each individual hybrid. Not to mention each class is going to have another hybrid joining their side for more competition. BC PVE looks like its going to be very, very, tough for Druids, Paly's and SHamans.

Just my 2 cents

I always thought that larger parties enforce more specific roles for the individual. People spam bolts to maximize dps, not because it's necessarily fun.

The roles have been specific in large groups and now we are just making individual contribution more significant. The fact that you don't have backup healers stacked 3 or 4 high means your hybrid classes will feel more pressure in various situations. Each player's efforts are more distinct in a smaller group.

Bottom line, smaller groups make for a more functional game. Everyone gains more opportunity for participation.

And when people get to choose stats through socketed itemization, that aims towards hybrid classes making armor for their play style.

So, to answer the question directly, 5/10/25 player caps helps hybrid functionality and utility a lot. ;)
