The same gear as anyone else. They have normal characters, they can't use any special powers in game, and Blizzard actually checks over anyone who does have access to those powers so that you pretty much lose your job if you abuse them- you should see the post on the GM forum about that. ;)

Just to add to this, it does us no good to 'cheat' in the game anyway because it would ruin the experience of it. We need to keep in touch with the core of the game and how it functions and how players experience it by playing the same as anyone else. Besides, I've never been one for cheating. I don't even like cheat codes in console games. Never have, never will.

Well on my priest I have some Tier 1 and Tier 2 pieces. I'm pretty much full purples with I think one blue ring but it's the best I've gotten my hands on so far. I was low on the dkp list so had to do a lot of waiting my turn to get something I needed not that I mind. I don't raid to get gear (though it's nice). I just like getting the chance to try out new dungeons and hang out with friends.

Yep. You have to realize that the people at Blizzard are gamers and play WoW regularly. We have people at all levels of play in the company from those that are new to the genre to those that are long term veterans.
