Subject: PvP curve eased in 1.12?
Seem to remember a blue posting about this but can't find it anymore. Didn't see it in test notes but it might be the kind of thing that's left out on purpose.

Anyway, I recall that the curve for ranks (10? 11?) and above would somehow be lessened to allow for more players in the upper brackets, although not a major change.

Anyone remember more details?

Ooh ooh! Pick me! Pick me! ;)

The curve has been adjusted to allow more people into the ranks. No, I can't give specific details on how many where but it should help at least for now.

Q u o t e:
This makes it sound like a major overhaul of the honor system is in the works and the softening of the honor curve is a temporary band-aid. Is this the case?

There are plans to do some work on the current Honor system. What those plans consist of and how much things will be altered I don't know yet. I don't want to answer and say there will be a 'major' overhaul and I don't want to say there is just a 'bandaid' in the works either. Once we have more specific information on what is being done though and have the go ahead to post about it, we will.

*edit- The curve adjustment is for 1.12 and will be live when that patch goes live.

Q u o t e:
Neth, will there be any incentive offered to participate in the honor system before the expansion? Any sort of rewards that will be retroactive once you hit 70? New PvP armor or rep rewards that are 60 + maybe?

Many folks don't really see a point in participating in such a time sinking grind when the expansion will just come and restart everything anyway, if thats the case.

All these questions are things that I'll have to ask and get back to at a later time.

As for honor review of the system, it is something that is a part of the current plans for the expansion (timed with) but until I know more myself of what is planned I don't feel comfortable answering too much on it. I hope you all understand. I don't tend to like giving information that isn't as accurate as possible nor do I like giving the appearance of pumping up false hopes.

The bump by Tigglet gives me the chance to mention that I am able to say that the honor changes will be 'significant'. Specifics I can't answer for you at this time.

Hopefully that will help people to realize that there is a commitment to improving the system.

Q u o t e:
Very good info indeed Neth!

Are these coming live with the newest patch or the expansion?

It'll be at the same time as the expansion. Sorry for not adding that in there.

Q u o t e:
Thanks again for the information Neth, but yet again I am still questioning if it will make any difference in patch 1.12. You have X-server BG queues which means more games per hour then before which means more honor obtained by players on a server which leads to higher requirements for honor to gain ranks. Lessening the curve is just going to offset this and we are back at square one. I may be jumping to conclusion but I remember you also saying that patch 1.12 was more aimed at lessening the BG queue times for players who curerntly have a hard time getting in and the ourdoor PvP objectives rather then 'helping' ease the pain of the honor grind for players. Correct me if I am wrong.

The honor curve adjustment is just something temporary until the changes are made when the expansion releases. World PvP is not meant to help ease honor grind but just as an additional activity to do out in the world.

Someone else asked about the matching system and the most I can say at this point is that it is still something the development team is interested in adding in and are evaluating it and how they would like it to function. They are not giving a specific time of when to expect it but it is planned for the future. Whether the 'future' is the expansion or later is yet to be seen. We are also not giving specifics on function yet either since nothing is finalized.

Buy the expansion. It'll totally fix the game (except anything new added)!

:)

I hope PVP is at least properly addressed. It needs it, badly.

Things like Honor changes and matching (if/when implemented) will change everyone's experience, not just that of people that buy the expansion. ;)

Just a bit of extra information to add to this thread.

For the patch you can expect a reduction in honor decay. Here is the exact note on it:

Honorable Kills now diminish at a rate 10% per kill rather than 25% per kill.

I hope that helps some people a bit more.

This is just for the per kill. So you will be able to kill the same person more than what you used to be able to.

I'm going to stress this point again for people so that it is as clear as possible.

These changes you are seeing in the 1.12.0 patch are basically temporary. There is a significant amount of change being planned for the honor system as a part of the Expansion pack release. We do not have any information to release yet on what that is as of yet, however, I think it's important to stress this point.
