Okay, today I was on my level 43 talking to the guild that I was in about their end-game loot system. They said that they used a "benefit of the guild" system where the person who helps the guild the most gets it. They sort of implied that if you didn't like it you should quit. So I went on discussing that DKP is better in my opinion and I said that if I hit 60 and they still used "benefit of the guild" that I would leave. Then a bit later they blatantly said "if you don't like the loot system then leave", so I did. Anyone have any comments on the "benefit of the guild" system? Personally, to me, it seems like DKP with an easy way to get ripped off. Did I over-react or handle the situation badly or anything?

I can't say I would be happy with a system based on an arbitrary status of someone who "helps the most". Would contributing items to the bank count? How about being a pleasant and helpful member? How are those measured against each other? I'm sure there is more to the system than you're letting on, but as Graye said, if it wasn't something you were comfortable with then it is probably best to find a different guild. If it is a problem then the guild leaders will quickly find their numbers dwindling.
The system obviously works for them in some ways or they wouldn't be using it, or would have disbanded long ago. I'm always wary of loot distribution that isn't based on numbers, unless of course it's beneficial to me. ;)
