Subject: Bag space concerns, Blizzard?
I have seen several of threads on the suggestion forums concerning bag space and the CMs on these boards keep saying they are aware of the space problem, that it is being worked on. What I would like to know is how long until we see some space relief and are any of the items that I have listed below even being considered.

Across the board bag upgrade.
The Main Back Pack is upgraded to a 20 slot, all other bags are upped by 2 slots.

Increasing stack size on Reagents and ammo
Arrows/Bullets from 200 to 600
Standard Reagents (Like arcane powder) from 20 to 100
Special Reagents (Like Symbol of Divinity) from 5 to 100
Other Special reagents (Like Symbol of Kings) from 100 to 500

Reagent/Ammo/Soul Slot
Add a new bag slot that can accommodate an Ammo Pouch, a Soul Shard Bag or a Reagent Bag.

This would ease the bag space problems that Hunters and Warlocks face, having to give up a bag slot so they can perform there important duties. This would also be, though not quite as much, useful to Warriors and Rogues as they can store more ammo, outside of there bags. It would help Mages Druids and Priests as they could store thier reagents.

Item Space Solutions suggested in this thread:

1. Main Bag upgrade
2. Increase stacking of Reagents and other items
3. Across the board upgrades by two slots.
4. Reagent/Ammo/Soul Slot
5. Single High resist items rather than sets.
6. Utilize the new Socketed item system to make a single High resist item instead of full sets.
Gems that can be cut would drop instead of resist sets and items to make resist sets.
7. Gear Mannequin
8. Pet Kennels

You do realize I can't comment on suggestions, right? The suggestions forum is there for a particular reason.

What I can say is that some changes we are looking into at the moment are about freeing up bag space by reducing certain item requirements.

Example:

Having enchanter rods usable for all enchantments below its requirement, rather than having to keep each tier of enchanting rod.

Another example:

Having Finkle's Skinner actually work as a skinning knife, rather than having to carry both.

There are other methods we are considering, but I just wanted to comment on some of the ideas we are considering for maximizing current bag space, rather than just expanding the capacity. Streamlining bag space, if you will.

Sweet Tseric, thanks for the reply! I am glad to hear that further steps are being taken to relieve us of our bag space woes!

It is something that is almost always under consideration, as there is always demand for more of it.

Overall, we have structured bank/bag space to limits that are comfortable, but we still look into small areas where bag space can be refined. The overall limits of bag space are in a good range that the programmers are comfortable with, as well as the designers, heh.

Just giving you anothre bag or bigger bags is just that a band-aid

Making it so that you dont need to carry around as much as you do is the start of a fix.

QFT.

Extra bag space is the easy solution.

Unfortunately, it is also very hard on the database when you increase character inforamtion like that. You aren't just adding one bag space to one character, you are adding one bag space to every character on the realm. The programmers do not like such balooning numbers, because in the end, those changes can dramatically effect performance.

This is not to say we will not increase bag space in the future, but it is a very controlled limit that we like to have more creative design solutions for.

Tseric i have to ask would this same idea be applied to the ZG sword that adds to skinning? so that way non sword usuing class's can take advantage of it.

I would guess that once the particular flag was coded to make weapons confer profession abilities, it can be applied to many items that would fit the category. Can't say what specific items exactly, but it could be used in more than one case.

what about giving us more bank slots? i know you cant comment on suggestions, but can u ever go off-the record?

For all intents and purposes, bank slots are the same as bag slots.

Q u o t e:
Tseric, you misread or misinterpreted, I guess. Im not asking for bigger bags. Im asking for something that works better.

And the 'database' issue is misguided.

What's better, one character per account with 5x the item space, or 5 characters with 3x the bag space?

Unless the database is set up in some silly way, it would be LESS stress to have more items on one character, than a bunch of characters with items spread across them.

As it stands, I personally have 4 alts, each with about 3-6 bags of stuff, each for different types of items. Thats 4 characters bogging down server info on top of the items.

Think: Either more bag slots, or armor mannequins, or a fat quest item bag, or a better resistance gear system.

I don't think it would be a good change after all this time to make a reduction of the number of characters you could create. I see what you are saying, but what you regard as common sense is in fact a dramatic overhaul of some basic infrastructure. I am also not exactly sure it works out as simply as saying that fewer characters with more bag space is inversely proportionate to more characters with less bag space.

However, as I said, there are other things in the works for this subject, I just can't talk about them yet. ;)
