Since Jewelcrafting will require Ore which can only be acquired through mining (and of course the very rare mob and chest drop). Are there any plans to increase the number of veins that spawn throughout the world? Especially thorium veins?
As it stands right now, I can go weeks without seeing a single rich thorium vein on my server due to all of the heavy farming. With a whole new profession that also requires mining to be effective, I could see it being even more of a pain to just gather mats for the already existing professions.

With the increased land-mass of Outland, the overall pool of nodes will be increased as a first factor.
I was concerned with having mining support another tradeskill, myself, but it was sort of a speculative thing on my part.
These considerations are being kept in mind and we don't forsee miners becoming the richest people in Azeroth. While there is very likely to be increased AH prices in response to newness shortly after its introduction into the game, there will not likely be a severe shortage on the supply-side.
Jewelcrafting has a couple methods of acquisition which do not put the whole tradeskill squarely on the shoulders of mining.
At any rate, should the necessity of more nodes be determined, it can be rectified by several means.

While Arcane Crystals do make a great gift for mom, there will be plenty of variety in crystals to spread out demand. Keep in mind, Arcane crystals are not likely to be an "end-game resource" upon release of expansion. Various item values will undergo change as new items are introduced into the economy.[ post edited by Tseric ]

so in other words start an alt now and start filling his bank and bag slots with cheap ore now this way you can cash in later when the price goes through the roof like during the war time event.
I'm sure many people will try to anticipate market trends by sinking money into commodities. I am also sure that many people will go belly-up from such an endeavor.
