Q u o t e: It is also the Former Clan headquarters of the Dragonmaw Clan, led by Zuluhed the Whacked, which through the Warlock Nekros, claimed allegience to the Shadow Council.
When the Council's campaign against Quel'thelas began in order for Gul'dan of the Stormreavers to ascertain the Caer Darrow Runestone of Scholomance, Rend and Maim Blackhand, Chieftains of the Black Tooth Grin Clan and sons of the former Blackrock Warchief, managed to invade the Dragon Borough in the Hinterlands and captured and defeated Alexstraza the Life-Binder.
The Brothers pulled her carcass all the way across the burning rubble of Stromgarde to Grim Batol in the Wetlands (Dun Modr had been destroyed by the Bleeding Hollow as this time). They imprisoned her inside Grim Batol, which the Bleeding Hollow had also driven the WildHammer Dwarves out towards the land they called Northeron. There, Nekros crafted chains of near unbreakable adamantium, a metal only made through warlock magics. There, Alexstraa was bound, and kept incredibly weak, allowing the Dragonmaw Clan to harvest her eggs and train her young to fight for the Horde.
Through these legions of Red Dragons, the Horde drove the Gryphon race to near extinction and dominated the skies of Lordaeron for years.
The Demon Soul was used against her to keep her in check in the book , "Day of the Dragon" and in the end she was freed to pursue Deathwing with the others.
I believe at the end of that book she was planning to return to Grim Batol to rebuild her flight. What goes on within Grim Batol now I do not know.
To light a candle is to cast a shadow.
