Q u o t e: We're pleased to announce the opening of X new realms: A and B, both PvP realms, and C and D, both PvE realms. These new realms will provide a great place for new and old players alike to begin fresh adventures in Azeroth. Enjoy!
Look familiar?
Blizzard opened new realms with transfers disabled because people wanted to experience the game "the right way." People who bought the game after launch, players who didn't level up fast at first, people who rolled on old servers, all types of players joined the new realms because they wanted to experience what the original WoW was like.
They wanted to experience Molten Core not through the eyes of a BWL-farming guild, but through the eyes of a player who is still farming Scholomance.
They wanted PvP where blue gear was impressive. They wanted World PvP where rivalries could be borne and where "gear disparity" meant they had blues and you had greens.
They wanted what was advertised: A new realm, a fresh start, and a chance to experience the game the way it should be experienced, front to back, beginning to end.
Now these new realms are being opened up for character transfers. PvP balance will be destroyed instantly as groups of BWL / AQ geared players go against players who haven't even downed Rag. On many of the new servers, AQ isn't even open yet, making the gear disparity quite literally "gear you cannot possibly get."
PvE balance will be destroyed. Guilds will fall apart as half the server tries to farm BWL and half tries to struggle to start MC.
The economy will be destroyed. Oooh, you got the Crusader enchant recipe? You got really lucky and found something rare, like Lionheart? Congratulations, thirty other players who transferred in last night already have it, and they also have 5k gold each and enough Arcanite Bars to shower with the stuff.
The servers themselves will be destroyed.
Its not too late for Blizzard to reverse this trend. Stop the transfers before all your new servers are destroyed.
To the new players thinking about rolling on new servers: Watch what happens here very carefully. Blizzard is promising you a new start like they promised us a new start only a few months ago. Do you really want to grind hard up to 60 only to have all your accomplishments dwarfed by Blizzard's $25 server-transfer fee? How do you think you'll succeed in grouping up for ZG or MC when an entire guild transfers onto your "new realm with new possibilities" that is already farming Nef?
To the players already afflicted by these transfers: /comfort.
To Blizzard: You promised us new realms, a fresh start, and a way to play the game the way it should be played.
Are you going to keep that promise? Or are you going to ignore this post, like you seem to ignore every other post complaining about transfers, and hope nobody notices as you kill server after server?
We aren't asking for free epics, or new features, or refunds, or anything special.
We're asking for what was offered:
Fresh realms. A chance to start new.
You made an offer, you made a promise. So which comes first?
The integrity of your company, PvP, PvE, balance, and the entire status and viability of an entire realm.
or
$25.
Eagerly waiting a response.

First off, this issue is going in my nightly report. Several realms appear to be passing the three-month mark and becoming eligible destinations, so I can only assume we will be seeing more of this type of thread. We are very concerned with how this service will affect realms and how people interact with it.
In response to the subject line, I would simply ask: When does a fresh start turn into a toddler realm? When does baby take its first steps, so to speak?
3 months is a fair amount of time for a fresh start.
The OP is 60, so what we are really discussing here is what makes a mature realm. What is the point at which players from mature realms can make as little impact on a developing realm?
The answer could very well be never, as newly transferred players will always impact a realm in some fashion. Now, I can see the points being made as to why this is 'unfair' and 'fair' alike, but I am not going to take a side. I am only going to say that 3 months was an agreed upon time that was reasonable as a standard rule. It applies to all new realms equally, across the board.
What is being asked for here is distinction of a particular realm based on undefined yardsticks of player progression (AQ gates open? Downed Nef? First player in all Tier 2?). If we dealt with each realm individually, the chance of us being accused of favoritism dramatically rises. We want to be even-handed in this and treat all realms according to simple, managable rules. If we start subjectively measuring when realms are "ready", more people could feel burned along the way.
Bottom line, however, this is something that will be monitored and discussed and hopefully we can make certain statements as to how we will address this in the coming weeks.

Hypothermia, I'm going to ask you nicely to stop trolling. After that...we'll see what happens.
