Subject: Requesting GMs to monitor LFG.
Can you inform the GMs to work overtime this week to monitor the LFG channel? Start throwing out suspensions for those who spam it please. We need the GMs to actually do something about it.

And we need you to do something about it, as well. It is not feasible to have two GMs camped in each realm to monitor activity of a single chat channel. You do realize that would require about 300+ GMs dedicated to that one task alone? They still have to address many other players concerns which fall outside of that particular issue.

It is still necessary that you use the tools available to report players abusing any chat channel. This is not something we can police autonomously

you make 75 million dollars a month, hire more gms

No we don't and we always do. I see new hires regularly. It doesn't solve the issue at hand.

I know that the addition of a new global channel is trying alot of people's patience and I can completely understand your concerns.

As Tseric already pointed out, it would greatly increase the GM's time spent on policing the channel rather than spending time handling other more serious issues that players may be facing in game.

That said, the best suggestions we can give at this time are to use your ignore list. If it gets filled up, then it's likely you can remove someone and place someone else on it if it's been a bit since you put them on it. People tend to get bored with the novelty of it and will stop once it's out of their system.

If someone is spamming things that go against the ToS or are harrassing in nature to you then please feel free to petition it so that a GM can handle it. Please use your best judgement in this.

If you don't want to leave the channel but would still like to have it up and available to access, I suggest creating a new window and making it your LFG channel. This way you can ignore it as you need and open it as you need.

Like any MMO, things can change based on player feedback. This channel is a result of massive amounts of requests for a more globally accessible channel by the community. Some people feel it is not implemented in the way they wanted and some are enjoying it as it is.

For those that feel it's not implemented as they would have liked, I'd suggest taking the time to post what constructive feedback and ideas they can about it on the suggestion forum.

As Eyonix stated in another thread from yesterday, the channel is new and so is the novelty of it. There are bound to be people that are going to abuse the system and there are many more that are going to use it exactly as it was intended to be used. Please be patient and let's all take a little time to see how it works out.
To light a candle is to cast a shadow.

Q u o t e:
For example, Tseric, would you rather the forum moderators read threads and ban/lock people? Or have 100 tickets sprout up asking to ban/lock a person?

Here's the issue: From the outside it looks like an either/or situation. From the inside, it is actually both that occur regularly. They are not seperate, because an individual player usually tries every channel available to get attention to their issue. Yet, within all of the reporting options, there is still the most direct and stable method of having the issue resolved.

In this case, that most direct and stable method is submitting a GM ticket. It records events to allow a backlog, because everybody can not be busted right now, which is kind of what you are asking for. I realize, you think their could be more efficiency to the department, but trust me when I say that the magnitude of the project is not reduced by adding more 'beat cops'.

Behavior/Harassment issues make up at least half of the workload of the GM department. If a GM is stationed in Ironforge looking for pottymouth, they are limiting their influence, not increasing it. Another GM, working with our current procedures and tools, can address issues in Feralas and Tirisfal, as well, allowing more efficiency and flow.

Bottom line is, players want to be witness to these actions, which gives them a tangible sense of action/reaction. The processes involved and the quantity of requests make this something invisible or less visible to an individual. We suspend hundreds of people a day, yet that one guy might not have gotten suspended within the hour, so the reporting player thinks nothing is done. The suspension may end up being handed out, but the reporting player has already logged off. Justice has been served, but the reporting player is unaware and continues to work under the impression that nothing is being done. That is just one example of how this occurs.
