So in all past mmorpg's I have had the ability and I am assuming WoW is no different but I am unable to find the dumb command to do it. Anyone know? Its a bit of a pain when I am getting pelted with whispers when i am trying to keep my team alive in the dungeons. Thanks all.

You are not able to make yourself anonymous in World of Warcraft but you can put up a 'DND' status on your character to let people know you aren't reachable. You'll still get the messages but most people are pretty quick to understand that they shouldn't expect a reply from you. You can even add a message after the DND by typing it in after the slash command. People will then see the reason you are busy.
