Subject: Ashenvale: Alliance Territory or Contested?
Blue, please settle this for us once and for all. Is Ashenvale Alliance territory or Contested Territory? Since teh Night Elves were already living in Ashenvale prior to Grom Hellscream moving the Warsong Clan into the forests in Warcraft 3, I would consider Ashenvale Night Elf/Alliance territory. HOWEVER, I've noticed many players on these boards consider Ashenvale to be Contested (even wowwiki.com says Ashenvale to be Contested, but this isn't a Blizzard site, and may contain inccorect information).
They're taking the hobbits to Isengard!

Q u o t e:
Quite useful indeed, thank you. While the notes for Ashenvale state "Alliance Favored", I will submit that Blizzard themselves say that Ashenvale is Contested.

Being "Alliance Favored" usually just means there are more vendors, easier access to flightpaths and other game elements and niceties found within towns. Various zones have differing levels of influence from the Horde or Alliance. Exemplary of this is the zone to the south of Ashenvale, the Barrens.

Technically, it is contested territory, but the Horde has established a strong foothold in the Crossroads and Camp Taurajo, while Ratchet has a contested neutrality to it.

Q u o t e:
How can you possibly make that mistake unless you have never played a Horde character past level 10.

When I am asked to reiterate countless minutiae about this game, I can assure you, it becomes not only possible, but increasingly probable.

Of course, it is the natural reaction of some to use this as evidence of incompetence and try to discredit or one-up people who make mistakes.

I recommend you try walking a mile in my shoes. It would greatly change your perception and opinion of things.

Q u o t e:
Yes, but you see the irony here is that he's "rebutting" that WoW Alliance has favored content/zones/etc. and in his rebuttal proved that he hasn't even got clue one when it comes to the Horde.

What gives him a basis for saying "oh it's not better than the Horde side" when he doesn't even have a clue what it's like on the Horde side?

Get it now?

I should have just used Kargath in Badlands or Grom'gol in STV as an example. Your point and the irony is illusory. I wasn't rebutting anything, merely talking about the gradation of zone population. Your trying to portray it as a "Alliance is more favored than Horde" issue. Which it isn't.

Q u o t e:
Yes you should have. You didn't though.

Have you got many Horde characters? I would be hard pressed to find anyone who's played Horde for any length of time that would mistakenly call The Barrens contested.

It's only illusory, because you want it to appear so. I'd rather say it's telling or Freudian (although not literally in many respects).

Yeah, I have Horde characters, but no, I haven't been to the Barrens in probably a few months.

Thanks for helping me hate my job a little more. I'm going outside for a smoke.

You win. Congratulations. It's fleeting, so enjoy it.

Yeah that was my apology post. I think he should forum ban me for laughs.

It's never easy being the lightning rod with blue text, and although I'm glad to see the admission, I'm saddened to see that I was hurtful to him on a personal level. It wasn't my intention to cause you any real distress Tseric, just an easy jab.

Sorry man.

This does not rest solely on your shoulders and I apologize for my reaction. This is really more of a slow, grinding effect on the soul that this environment and my job creates. The months are adding up.
