A month ago, 12 (yes, there was 12) new US realms were released, 8 of them nontransferable. Many of these are now low population, to add onto the 20+ servers that are ALSO low population.
There are 3 Oceanic-marked realms, and one unofficial Oceanic server--Frostmourne, Khaz'Goroth , Jubei'thos and Blackrock, respectively.
Every single one of these servers is marked as Full. On peak times, a queue of anywhere between 1200-1500 people can form. They are also extremely instable and at any moment the queue can balloon to over 3000 when the server disconnects everyone, which is quite regular.
Q u o t e: We are currently planning to open two new Oceanic realms in one week. The opening of these realms depends on tests of our new authentication hardware which we will be testing later this week. Our current schedule is to release these new realms in one week; however this is subject to change depending on our authentication hardware tests.
We will provide more information as soon as it is available. Keep an eye on the main website as well as here in the General forum.
That was Drysc's post about new Oceania realms. Two days later, Tseric posted this:
Q u o t e: We are happy to announce the opening of two new realms: Altar of Storms, a PvP realm, and Uldaman, a PvE realm. These realms are located on our latest World of Warcraft site, which feature all new hardware. This will provide an opportunity, to new and old players alike, to begin fresh adventures in Azeroth!
Both US realms. Whereas you have over 20 low population realms as well as more than a hundred and forty medium-high realms, Oceania has 3 consistently queued realms that are some of the most unstable pieces of crap I have ever seen.
But wait, you say. They said they were going to release them this week, you say.
I don't accept that. They have the hardware, and they clearly prefer the small percentage of American players who are willing to reroll on one of these new servers instead of an entire continent.
And yes, I do see the need for new American servers. But wouldn't it be rather simple to release the Oceanics at the SAME time as the US?
So, who has the greater need? The introverted American?
Oh, and indeed I do need to QQ, l2p, get out of the basement, etc.
EDIT: Thanks Hoon for telling me I needed to 'cry more'. I will take your advice and weep to my hearts' content.[ post edited by Soliem ]

Q u o t e: So, who has the greater need?
This question is sort of irrelevant to the situation. We are opening realms on the east-coast site, because that is what we are able to do right now to meet certain demands. The decision to do this was not based on the conclusion that NA players "need it more".
Oceanic realms, when released, are going to be on a brand new World of Warcraft site that has never seen player activity. Before we open this site, we would like to have a new authentication system in place with this site to deal with future, successive realm openings.
We aren't going to flag a random realm as Oceanic simply in response to a demand. We are going to provide a better location for Oceanic realms. Part of the Oceanic designation requires west-coast location to lessen the distance between regions. It just so happens that the release of these realms must coincide with our larger plans of expansion and migration to new hardware. Those are the reasons why things are going as they are.
