Estimates or approximate are not 'exact' by definition, and we propose maintenance periods as such to avoid giving an absolute time that the maintenance may conclude. Problems may arise, more time may be needed, it really amounts to what occurs during the maintenance itself. It is obviously extremely important that the authentication be up again as soon as possible, and work is progressing to see that met.

In addition I have seen some comments in other threads surmounting to an uncaring approach being the reason for taking the authentication server down during peak hours. I can assure you, when listed as urgent maintenance; it is indeed urgent and was necessary that it be done.

I do apologize for the additional changes to the estimated time of completion and the overall inconvenience this maintenance is causing.

Q u o t e:
Which hammers my point about stating a grace time over an estimated time. Estimates leave everyone hanging on their seat for the estimated time only to be introduced with a new estimate. Seriously, it's not a tough concept to figure out the maximum time it would take to get it up and running and add an hour to that and give us that timeframe.

EDIT: And as I stated in the other thread, you are now a hero for bringing it up before the time you provided.

We will almost always add additional time to our estimates, providing a 'grace period'. In this particular case it was not enough, additional time is just needed.
