Subject: Original Developers of WoW gone?

Q u o t e:
Of course it isn't the original vision of WoW. The core group of developers who put this game together in beta hopped ship a while ago.

Guess who took over? Ex-EQ developers.

Is this true?

Then its no wonder that the ingenius concept of RESTED-EXP has been replaced by HONOR-DECAY... The smart people left and we now have a bunch of idiots...

So the arguements of "Look wow is the best MMO out there stop complaining and make a game as good yourself noob!" is no longer valid. The people who made the BEST MMO game are gone, and now replaced by people who got the corporate axe from SOE? No wonder its been downhill eversince!!!

It's interesting that we see speculative posts such as some of the ones in this thread surface every couple of months, but the assumptions are generally incorrect. In fact, many members of our core team at Blizzard, including the people who've been working on World of Warcraft from just about the beginning, not only remain as employees, but also continue to contribute to the ongoing development of the game.

To list a few: the VP of game design, VP of creative development, lead designer, lead artist and senior art director, lead producer, lead animator, much of the programming staff, associated producers and designers, and two of the original co-founders -- one being the president of the company and the other a senior vice president. The list of names of those who breathed the first hint of life into this game and continue to breathe life into it runs very long.

My point is, the "core team" that many are referring to is still pretty much here as it was when the project first began. Meaning, the same people involved with the origins of World of Warcraft are still working on the game today and comprise the majority of the team. Have people left in between? Sure. Happens in any business anywhere and maybe particularly within this industry. Does that mean "all the talent left"? I'd certainly disagree.
