Subject: Trial Account: Q & A and more Q
Hello, I've recently installed and began playing a trial account as of March 10'th 8:40 A.M., I have 8 days remaining of gameplay if I'm correct, but I have some questions, as well as some answers, comments and information regarding a trial account. But first a list of my trial account restrictions:

1. Can not use General Chat
2. Can not use Trade Chat
3. Can not use Local Defense Chat
4. Can not use Looking for Group Chat
5. Can not create a chat even for trial account users only
6. Can not trade, regardless of proffesion
7. Can not use the mailbox
8. Can not purchase or sell via Auction House
9. Proffession skills, regardless of what they are and how much you try, stop at 100/150
10. Can not gain experience beyond level 20
11. Can not accumulate above 20 gold

My questions and other things are as follow:

1. Why can I not use at least the Looking for Group chat?

It is very, very difficult and I assume bothersome to others that I have to ask them to use general chat for, a few were not so glad at the pestering, even when I asked politely every time. I can understand disability of General Chat, and Local Defense Chat but not Group chat, I'll get to Trade chat.

2. Why can't I at least Trade and Trade Chat?

I can understand the mailbox, and possibly the Auction house but the trade ability, or disability, is nonsense. I was and still am very limited to a proffession choice, I ended up choosing skinning and leatherworking, I was informed on some profitable proffesions, but if I could not interact with others via trade, they we're a real waste, so I chose the best that I assumed, but I have a question directly regarding proffesions and it is...

3. Why does my skinning and leatherworking proffession stop at 100 of 150?

I have a few scrolls that require a skill of 105, 5 points away, as well as it disable me from collecting leather from level 21 monsters and up, as well as the sheer futile effect of using leatherworking other then turning light leather into medium, curing hides and making medium armors, which is truly limited, my Fishing, Medicine and Cooking continue beyond 100, but not my important skills, why?

4. Why am I capped at level 20?

I've played 1 day and 15 hours (via the /played command thanks for teaching me that fellow players) and I have already reached the limit of level 20 seven hours of that gameplay ago. As well as spending 4 hours fishing and doing other things because I didn't know what would happen regarding turning level 20.

5. Why is my gold capped at 20?

I've played 1 day and 15 hours and have reached level 20 as well as accumulate 8 gold and some odd amount of silver, I assume I will reach the limit of gold soon, I can not trade, use the mailbox or the auction house, I can not further any of my skills, I bought everything I could use, and I am still with 20 gold and increasing as I play, I have 8 days left of gameplay I assume I will have the rest in the next 3. I can understand having a gold limit if the Trade, Mailbox and Auction house abilities were enabled, but they are not, so why have a gold cap?

Those are my main questions, here are some that I had and the answers after:

1. What will happen at level 20? Do I get kicked off the account until I buy the game? Get kicked off the character only? Stop gaining experience? the site doesnt have any FAQ that I could locate easily, thanks to a very kind paladin and me leveling up I discovered:

You stop gaining experience, you can still play, just limited and the quests you turn in still say you gained the 1300 xp or more/less and you do gain the reputation at least, but that xp is gone, even the xp from discovering place and monsters is gone, I've leveled 2 times or more by now if there was no level cap ^_^

2. What? Where? Who?

Ask players for help, they are our only, and I mean only assistance that can be reached, the game support did nothing to assist me, and the players are the only true heroes of this, I thank all the players I have met and been helped by, and they deserve the best within and without of the game.

3. Will (s)he help me? (s)he is pretty high level...

Just ask, be very kind and polite, and players will most likely help and assist you with almost anything possible, teleporting you to cities, with high level quests, just don't be rude, aand if they decline, tell them thank you, do not be rude, just look for help elsewhere or do it yourself if possible.

I couldn't find a preson to teleport me to Darnassus to meet with my group to go to Willing Caves (sp?) that my group invited me to hunt with them there, so I ran (I had to ask the group how and where to go there I've never been out of Goldshire and westfall other then to deliver a couple quests to lakeshire, darkshore and learn guns in ironforce, so this experience taught me plenty opf the terrain, currently I am in ratchet doing quests there.

4. Go to the battle grounds at least once to three times!

I can't but say, do this as soon as you turn level 10, you gain 11 silver after winning once or losing thrice, as well as getting reputation with that faction and gaining 1300 xp or more, after words, its not hard to miss, just ask a capital city guard, and he will tell you where to go

Okay, those are my questions, comments, advice and other stuff, but I do want to say a couple things more:

1. I purchased Diablo 2 battlechest a couple months ago, and received the 14 day trial from that and installed it shortly ago

2. I purchased the World of Warcraft strategy guide, DO NOT DO THIS this has NO useful information, the bestiary, quest guide, zone information is USELESS, It does not mention many many things, and it does not mention ANYTHING regarding a trial account gameplay, it was a very bad waste of 25 dollars

3. I have purchased the full game and waiting for the trial account to end, but I will still play until I reach 20 gold then I think I will make a new character

4. I have a level 14 cow warrior, a level 20 rogue, level 6 green warlock, level 9 gnome rogue and a level 3 elf rogue, I enjoy both the warrior and the rogue, I notice the rogue is alot less useful to a group then the warrior, but I have been able to still get groups, so keep trying if you can't

5. Thank you so, so much to all the players that have helped me, you all are so very helpful, even the ones that don't help you at least teach one thing or another (/ignore on some =/ mainly the naked people) but thank you all so much, you have been a great help and I wish the best for you all

Well that is everything and I hope this has some answers to my questions, and hope it helps any future players other then myself, I hope the best for you all and will see you in the game. Bye ^_^

Q u o t e:
1. Why can I not use at least the Looking for Group chat?

Because the functionality of the channel is no different from any other public channel. This restriction primarily prevents spam from advertisers linked to gold-selling sites.

Q u o t e:
2. Why can't I at least Trade and Trade Chat?

For the channel, same as above. Restricting trade again prevents gold-sellers from using trial accounts as mules or repositories for gold.

Q u o t e:
3. Why does my skinning and leatherworking proffession stop at 100 of 150?

Not exactly sure of this one at the moment, but I would guess it has something to do with the level cap restriction. At its simplest, it could just be a cap to allow some but not full advancement for the trial account.

Q u o t e:
4. Why am I capped at level 20?

As leveling is a primary tool of advancement, it has to be capped somewhere for a "trial version". 20 is a good level to experience a wide variety of elements in the game (zones, quests, etc.)without being able to level to 60 if you were that determined. ;)

Q u o t e:
5. Why is my gold capped at 20?

Again, gold-sellers were a part of this limitation. At level 20, 20 gold should suffice for any purchasing needs most trial players might have.

Granted, many of these restrictions were implemented due to observed behavior with trial accounts. While we don't want to penalize potential new players for the actions of unscrupulous participants, the limitations are quite necessary to protect the game as a whole. However, they were designed with the trial player in mind and give a fair sampling of the game without just being a free version of the game.

Q u o t e:
I understand the gold thing, they should only disable gold transfer in my opinion

Disabling gold is not something I think can be seperated from the trade window. The two are treated as the same, in terms of the trade window.

P.S.- Welcome aboard!
