Check out the vocab on this guy.

Funny you should mention this. Drysc actually refers to me as a human thesaurus and I provide a resource when he wants a different word to describe something more particular. My knowledge of the language is mostly cranial, but I will look something up if I am unsure of the spelling/meaning.
I like using the most specific word possible for the situation. There is a difference between "sarcastic" and "sardonic". Finding, knowing and using the differences is something I find stimulating.
I was actually thinking of having a word of the day put in my sig, or something. Y'know, like a Reader's Digest, enhance your word power thing. Maybe at a later date. I like my current sig.
P.S.- I am particularly fond of the word "vernacular"; much in the way I got to use the word "parlance" yesterday. I giggled like a schoolgirl when typing.

Q u o t e: Tseric,
You should be careful when using the word 'feel' when you mean a variant of 'think'. Although most dictionaries have a definition (several entries down) that 'to feel' means 'to think', it's widely looked down upon to feel anything but emotions or sensual stimuli. I've seen this error several times in your posts, for example:
"With the recent rise in reports of compromised accounts, we felt that[...]"
I have no problem with the substitution, but I know The Eighth Through Twelfth Grade Teachers of America are planning a protest rally against your improper usage.
As for the rest of this post, it's written onanism at its worst--especially those trying to imitate academic speak.
In good jest, always,
Mustus
Fair enough. I tend to use "feel" when talking about impressions or more abstract sentiments, rather than "think" which tends to convey more concrete notions or a particular course of action. As something of a spiritual person and and artistic one in my private life, I often experience things viscerally first. From that sweeping, jumbled sensation, I then seperate things into "thoughts" which can then be organized in a more solid context, fit for communication. So, in my head "feeling" always precedes "thinking".
Also, feeling conveys more compassion than thinking. ;)
As for written onanism, you're probably right. However, your critical summary blanches out some of the real import in these digressions. Small talk (or big talk)could always be reduced to such terms, but that might not be fair to the process that is occurring that others want to participate in. They might be getting returns from this that you are not aware of or are otherwise unconcerned with. However, in a broader sense, this onanism is part of a process that brings us closer together.
I realize you were poking fun, but that is how I see the other side of the coin. ;)

Q u o t e: Tseric,
You get your current sig from that HBO One Night Stand with the two guys comedic guys from New Zealand who sang that "It's Business Time" song?
I think these two are a hilarious duo, just can't remember their names.
Flight of the Conchords (Bret and Jermaine)from New Zealand. They have a myspace site with a couple of songs you can listen to along with an official website. (No, I won't link it. Google is your friend :P )

Q u o t e: "Well sure, man. Look at it... a young trophy wife, in the parlance of our times, you know, and she, uh, uh, owes money all over town, including to known pornographers, and that's cool... that's, that's cool, I'm, I'm saying, she needs money, man. And of course they're going to say that they didn't get it, because... she wants more, man! She's got to feed the monkey, I mean uh... hasn't that ever occurred to you, man? Sir? "
That had not occurred to me.
That had not occurred to us, Dude.

Q u o t e: so no one can clearly explain the difference between "sarcastic" and "sardonic"? That is, explain a real difference, not just the "feeling" of it :p
Hehe. Ok.
Sarcasm tends to use more irony or being facetious. Saying something and not actually meaning it: "You must be great at this game.Lol"
Being sardonic is a little more straight forward in its mocking, usually with pangs of cynicism: "Cry more, noob"
EDIT- I don't think facetiousness is a word :([ post edited by Tseric ]

Q u o t e: I'm guess grammar and sentence structure is not a part of the whole thing.
Hello, Guess Grammar. I may omit some words which may make sentences grammatically incorrect. However, it is usually due to the fact that I try to type the way I talk and that doesn't necessarily follow the strict rulings of the english language, but conveys the message in a more colloquial fashion, given proper inflection. ;)
