Subject: Are the Forums working as intended?
   Dear Blue,

I understand that it is hard to leave a post that raises valid points and issues but please consider this:

- Do the terms of use specifically prohibit the posting of valid complaints, being minor or major?

- Deleting posts that raise valid issues and are writen in a civilized and polite manner (like this one) will help the situation in what manner?

- GMs tell us to post about problems on the forums, we do, only to have those posts deleted or CMs tell us to contact GMs.

- And when legitimate issues are raised via emails, users mostly get cut-and-paste answers.

I for one would like to know what is being done in order to fix the many issues that the current forums have. I will not post the long list of issues that the current platform has but would appreciate to hear something from the Webteam. Do Blues converse with that team?

Since the forums are used to discuss aspects of the games, where can one discuss the aspects of the forums? How does one contact the webteam and establishes a dialogue? Or is the webteam the only team that we can never access (never on chats, never on the forums, hidding during Blizzcon)

For the record, almost everyone who has a post deleted thinks it doesn't breach the CoC. This is understandable, as they are likely not as well versed in it as the mods are. However, we don't run around deleting posts because we don't like them or we have some personal grudge against you. It would be silly to put it on such simplistic terms as that.

Granted, there are some reasons a thread may be moderated which are not readily apparent. Foremost in my mind at this time is making a new thread about something which is basically answered on a daily basis, such as when new realms will be opened.

I didn't see your original post, so I can't really say what the motivation was behind deleting it. What I can do is give you an idea of how I might view potential deletions; a quick checklist, if you will.

  • is the title in unnecessary caps?
  • does the title contain crude negative terms such as "sucks", "crappy", etc.?
  • are there immediately available threads, possibly with a blue response within the first 75 threads (first page) on the forums?
  • should it be on another forum (class, suggestion, tech support, etc.)

While I have and will continue to lock posts with a specific explanation, sometimes there just isn't the time to do so. It would not be possible to do so every time a thread merited deletion. If it occurs to you, it is worth it to carefully measure your post and ask "Why was this deleted from the General forum?".

In regards to your question, the web team is developing new forum technology which we are waiting on as anxiously as you are. Unfortunately, we have no more specifics at this time.
