Currently, several realms are seeing increased DB queues which, on your end, turns into latency (primarily mail and loot lag). We have people looking into the matter to see what can be done, but there are not a lot of concrete steps that can be taken on the back end in terms of flipping switches and what not. Population and traffic are some, but not all, of the factors involved and we have usually seen an improvement of performance in cases like these when sudden surges in population pass and everyone gets settled into their realms at prime time.
So, in short...
