Go ahead and make a list of non-raiding epics. You'll notice 2 things. a) they aren't nearly as good as the raid ones, and b) there are far fewer of em. It's pretty tough if not impossible to "deck yourself out" with non raid epics, which aren't even that good.
so why can raiding and raiding only possibly be the only way to comparable loot? why specifically raiding? 40 man raid dungeons?
please, give a very SPECIFIC answer

Craftable Epic items can easily flood the market, even if they aren't BoE.
Faction epic items would be retrieved and reproduced (and/or farmed) by many, to again saturate the market. (you can find a pimp to get you epics!)
Small dungeons would be farmed evntually and have no bearing on the "PvP" discussion. Hateful competition may or may not exist.
Every action has multiple reactions.
