Hi and thanks for you time,
As you may or may not realize Mannoroth is in the forefront of the race for AQ war effort as well as the quest for the gong. When you look at the volume of servers that is a nice accomplishment. Then when you stop to take into account that ours is a pvp server, where co-operation is not only not occurring, but has been set aside in favor of massive amounts of warfare currently its utterly remarkable.
The reason for the server crashing conflicts (maxed at 12 one night) is due to the fact that each faction has a champion. Neither side wishes to back down and work with the other like the PvE servers have done. Now this is our choice and I am happy to be in the bed we made for ourselves because we are showing our quality in my opinion by keeping pace with PvE realms while battling it out.
There is a huge problem however. Why oh why did you leave the drops rate of the shards off the green dragonkin up to random chance? This morning the alliance had the lead after massive battles concerning carapace turn ins and massive crashing. There was grief on each side and I am not going to start pointing fingers because it deflects from the main point. We (the Alliance) maintained the lead going into today with us being the first ones to drop the Demon in Duskwood. Then all of a sudden we were overtaken by the Horde due to uncontrollable events. A seemingly random drop rate has totaly skewed things in the Horde's favor? They got all 4 shards in a few hours when we have spent 10 hours farming and only have the one off of the Demon in Duskwood. In fact one horde raid designed to attack us as we farmed got lucky and got a drop off a dragonkin that agroed them! Now we are stuck 7-10 hours later with 1 shard while the Horde have obtained the 3 others seemingly because they were lucky?!?! This raises serious questions. Are we somehow bugged and haven't gotten our drop in 10 hours? Are we simply blocked by poor quest design? There is no way to be sure... we have done some testing regarding the meat portion of another part of the quest and have gotten our champion meat by having him tag out of the main raid which leads to questions of perhaps he is bugged.
We need some clarification here from you because we don't know if were wasting our time. Perhaps we are blocking our servers progress because we are now locked out and are pvping the horde causing server crashes, or perhaps we are bugged? This is all horribly suspenseful and we need some form of clarification because we obviously have 1 shot at this to get it correct.
We await your timely response.[ post edited by Handie ]

Q u o t e: its apparent that tryphon has been bugged since he can only loot quest items while outside of a raid group (chimerok meats for example)
edit: no there hasn't been a gm response yet
So, tryphon is your champion? What sort of loot rules are you using? Master Loot or FFA?
Has this been the progress so far from the time of the OP (6AM PST)?
Provide as much info as you can.
EDIT- Is Tryphon in group one of the raid and getting first hit? Have you tried reforming the raid?[ post edited by Tseric ]
Original thought is an illusion. Extrapolation FTW.

Q u o t e: Here is the information we have. We have been farming diligently (despite the camping pass that horde did) for over 12 combined hours and not one shard has dropped for us other than the 100% drop off of the scripted Twilight Corrupter.
Where else and what are you farming?
Q u o t e: None of the meat required were dropping while in a raid group. It was a raid labled quest.
Tryphon dropped from the raid and then could see and loot meat off of the chimeroks.
We then tried to have Tryphon rejoin the raid and loot the chimeroks to see if it was the raid group preventing us from seeing the meat. After several raid joins and drops, we had a total of 5 meat visible and looted outside of the raid group (doing solo tags and then out of party dps), and 0 meat visible/lootable with 0 meats looted while in a raid group.
Have you tried fully reforming the raid group with a new leader, perhaps with Tryphon as the leader (if he wasn't before?)
EDIT- Again, what loot settings are you using?[ post edited by Tseric ]

Extra comment on this...
The previous example of the meat with the azuregos quest is puzzling. The fact that Tryphon dropped from the raid and then could see the raid-only loot suggests that the drop mechanism is working properly (the loot is in fact dropping), but the player is having difficulty seeing it.
BTW- just got word that you saw a shard drop. Confirm?

Q u o t e: It's my understanding that you're not supposed to give quest hints.
I have asked questions to determine the actions of players. What quest hints have I shared?

Q u o t e: And, I should add, there are only TWO things non-raiders want; access to epic gear without raiding and non-raiding end game content.
And these two things have already been commented on more than once. In particular:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=6279154&p=1
Stat progression for players who refrain from large groups
We have some particular ideas and plans which will allow players who do not wish to raid to upgrade gear and see some statistical improvement. These particular elements should hold an "epic" feel while remaining targeted at the solo and small-group player.
Questing at 60
We realize that at 60, strong incentive for questing evaporates. Obviously, this is due primarily to experience rewards or the lack thereof at 60.We are developing methods to alter, yet reinvigorate questing for players who have reached the level cap.
What was the question?
