How come we pay for 6 months to a year of WoW yet after this we are unable to post on the forums? Would it be not be better to let guests post on the forums so that people will become more interested in the game and wish to play. My friend is one of these people and wishes to stay updated on patches and realm forums incase he resubscribes but is unable to. Is this a technical issue or is this cause everything costs us money now days?

Your friend can read the forums, yes? In that respect people who do not have an account can see what news is available. If these were completely open to the public, I am hesitant to think of what the traffic or consequences would be. I dare say this rickety, old ship could stand the battering of the oceans.
Original thought is an illusion. Extrapolation FTW.
