Q u o t e: I'm tired of litanies of unfocused, emotional, personal attacks from people I don't even know, so chock full of hyperbole that you have no opportunity to engage in a reasonable discussion.
I'm happy you showed your face on the mage forums. We appreciate someone acknowledging that were, in fact, a playable class in the game. Thanks.
Ok, now, for the discussion. 5 man content. What is 5 man content? Well, it's like this, it's the opposite of 40 man content.
You see, Tseric, some of us don't like raids. The raids in the game are nice, and well done, it's just the other aspects of raid I suspect many of us do not enjoy. We don't want to deal with 40 people, we don't want to deal with Vent, we don't want to have to spend 1 hour corraling people.
Personally, I like to be able to talk to my group. I feel a sense of teamwork and accomplishment when I 5 man something. It's much for satisfying being 1 of 5 instead of 1 of 40. When I am in a 5 man group, I'm a mage, a damage dealer, and it's my job to crowd control, in a 40 main, I'm one of like 3 to 5 mages, and my individuality of being a damage dealer, crowd controller is gone.
Here is the problem/debate: 5 man content will never drop the rewards of 40 man content. (from Caydiem) 5 man content bosses will never be as "difficult" as 40 man. (by this I mean, in comparison). These arguments were presented by Caydiem over several posts. What she has stated is that 5 man content will never compare to 40 man content in rewards or difficulty.
I feel this is a cop out, an answer that takes the easy way out. I don't believe it. I just can't believe that a company like blizzard that has created so many great games, suddenly has nothing left. Is there no way to make 5 man as comparably difficult as 40, so as to drop the same rewards? I think there is. Do I know how to do it? No, that's why I don't work for blizzard as a developer.
Now, you guys made starcraft, the diablo series, and warcraft, I have high expectations. Tell me, that this company, that gave us all these great games, is now suddenly stumped when it comes to new types of 5 man content.

The matter isn't that we have no intention of ever designing challenging and rather difficult five man content. The matter is we aren't designing and implementing it right now.
I understand perfectly where you are coming from and in some respects we share some opinions on what we would like to see in the game (I think). But, we are working on a larger plan, which at this phase is implementing raid content to a point we are comfortable with. This has been in the making for some time and it is simply not feasible to veer off course. It's just not a good way to run a business.
We aren't ignoring your concerns and we aren't out of ideas, but there is a course of progression which is being followed.
My opinions are just that. As are the facts.
