Subject: To live or to aquire Nightslayer...
I took a 2 month WoW sabbatical to play some other games and move to a new house, but now I am back and ready to start my "end game" tour of duty as I had just hit 60 before I stopped. I have seen a couple of Rogues on my server walking around with full sets of NightSlayer armor, I was immediately jealous so I checked Thottbot and discovered that each piece is a drop in Molten Core.

I found this a little depressing. Although I love WoW I don't (can't) play 40+ hours a week. I have a full time job, a wife, I'm a playtester for the Mechwarrior CMG, etc, etc, etc. I know that if the top tier sets weren't hard to get then they wouldn't be so cool, but this set seems completely impossible to obtain unless you don't have a life outside of WoW.

Here's the thing, I don't mind putting in some regular WoW time to get the set a little at a time (like over a 3-6 month period). But is that even possible? Because of the huge time commitment to do a Molten Core run I could probably only do one run a week (sometimes 2?). If I'm lucky, I might get a set item 1 out of 4 runs? Multiply times 8 set items and assume that the last 3 items will take 3 times as long to get... and you are looking at 56+ weeks....?

So am I missing something here? Am I way overestimating the amount of time it would take to pull this off or is it really that hard to acquire a set like this? Should I just give up on the idea of ever owning the set and learn to live with whatever I can get? Looking for some advice.

Thanks!

I have three pieces of Nightslayer on my Rogue (just got my chestpiece this past weekend); our guild raids Molten Core for a block of time on Saturday.

If you get in with a guild which is fairly decked out already, you should be up for loot more often than not.

Honestly, depending on the guild, you could play the game 4-6 hours a week (just Molten Core) and still be up for your epic gear.

Sorry cay, but you really don;t know how getting into an uber guild works if you're gonna tell us that.

Here's a hint, uber guild DO NOT accept casual players. I tried to get into Stature of the Gods on Whisperwind which is the most uber raiding guild on the server. Not only do they not have room for my class, but my schedule does not fit with theirs and my gear isn;t already good enough for them to even look at me.

What you posted is not a solution AT ALL.

Er...

You don't have to be in an "uber guild" to get Molten Core gear.

There are more and more "casual raid" guilds who have the Core run down pat and are pretty well geared up. Don't think they exist? I'm in one of them.

That's what I'm suggesting.

Or if people kiss your butt because they know you are a CM...

Good thing they don't know I'm a CM then, eh? :P I worked through the point system like everyone else, thanks. ;)
