The forum MVP (Most Valuable Poster) Program is now up and running! We've chosen a few exemplary posters who constantly answer questions and encourage constructive discussion. These individuals have proven informational and effective during their stay here, and we're pleased to recognize their contributions by making them MVPs.
What does an MVP do?
An MVP continues to promote constructive posting wherever they can. They answer questions that can be answered by players (rather than Blizzard representatives) to the best of their knowledge. They contribute to the community and encourage polite discussion throughout the forums. When you see an MVP post, listen to what they have to say -- they were chosen for their knowledge of the game, as well.
How can I become an MVP?
Keep posting constructively, answering questions about the game, and encouraging discussion (and no, that doesn't mean giving a post a title and then saying "Discuss.") throughout the forums -- we'll take notice. Following the Code of Conduct would be an important part of it, as well. ;)
You know them all, but let me be the first to congratulate the following exemplary contributors on their new MVP status!
Faizaniel
Hyacinth
Palehoof
Trepas
You'll see them posting in different-colored text to indicate their status. Congratulations once more, and keep up the great work!
It's dark.

Q u o t e: Congrats guys. I really hope this works out well (and doesn't backfire!).
Just out of curiosity, did the CMs contact the MVPs and ask if they wanted to be MVPs beforehand?
Yes, yes we did. :) I wouldn't foist this position on anyone unwillingly.

Q u o t e: Sorry but Kyan is actually a real WoW player part of the real WoW community.
In order to be an MVP you have to be a predetermined candidate by blizzard, no WoW experience required.
Kyan is a Friend of Blizzard already and we acknowledge his work.
Understand that MVP isn't a "player representative" program -- we're not nominating these people to represent you in terms of game feedback (which is something Kyan would be more suited to, were we to institute such a program). These folks are here to help out on the boards and promote constructive discussion in general.
Honestly, I didn't notice that they were all Horde, either. :P

It's really very special when you see someone that takes the time to enrich the lives of others in any capacity, and that's exactly what we've seen each of you do on countless occasions. To say that we're pleased to have you around would most certainly be a gross understatement.
Welcome to the MVP program!

They aren't player representatives, Earthbound. Now you, for example, give excellent, critical feedback when you've a mind to, and I do appreciate that... but that's not what the MVPs are here to do, necessarily. They certainly can, and they have in the past, but that's not why they were given the privilege.
They're not necessarily the people who give the feedback (some do, some tend more towards answering questions) -- they continually promote constructive discussion on these forums. Now, they have a variety of methods to accomplish this, and by the tone of your posts, I'll wager you're taking issue with Palehoof and extending your gripes with his style to the entirety of the MVP program. I admit that Palehoof can be rather abrasive at times, and he knows it -- but you can't deny that his posts do achieve results.
How many times, Earthbound, have you seen us answer a post that could easily be answered by a player, but the original poster was insistent on a blue post? I know I've responded to several precisely like that, reiterating precisely what players told the individual beforehand just to close the matter. The MVPs are those players who consistently and accurately answer these questions, and the flag can lend them more credibility. This frees us up to answer those posts you want answered -- the ones that require Blizzard information.
In short, the MVPs are not chosen to be player representatives who exemplify how one should give feedback. They answer questions that can be answered by players and help promote the constructive feedback that they and others can contribute. They are not "trolls", Earthbound -- helpers, not representatives. Mind you, they're all critics on various parts of the game themselves -- that didn't stop me from picking them. ;)
I hope I've helped clear this up -- I think there's a bit of misconception on what precisely MVPs are.
