Subject: Resist Change Idera (ruh roh rhooby)
   I've been thinking. Since it's such a PLUS to have RESIST gear I think rather than toning it down there could be a pivot mechanism added. Meaning everytime you bulk up on a resist, it will drop other resists below the base, causing you to be weak against other sorts of magic.

The idea here, is to make resistances more than just OMG I've got fire resist! There'll be a measure to prevent people to go overboard.

IE: Warrior bulks up on fire resist. He encounters a Fire Mage. The fire mage's first spell (fireblast) suffers a resist, so instead of going "$!@% I'M !&$%ED" He whips out a cone of cold and it crits for 2k. Even though the mage lacks talent in the frost tree, he'll still be able to make use of his arsenal of frost spells and defeat the warrior(who only lost because he was 10g away from getting his reaper).

This would prevent resists from being highly valuable in anything but duels for PvP. Much like +def is gimped in PvP as well.

To give resists some sort of value as a stat though, one would simply take all resists as they are now, and give each piece a negative resist of the half opposing elements, which I understand is like this:

Arcane <---> Nature

Fire <---> Frost

Shadow <---> Holy

of course since holy has no resists, a better chart may be:

Arcane ---> Nature ---> Shadow ---> Arcane

Fire <---> Frost

~Holy~

I feel this would add some intrinsic strategy to caster classes. As most casters would then - regaurdless of their spec- have a good chance to put up a fight with a highly resistant opponent.

   This is an interesting idea, and I brought it up to the developers. They have been watching the resistance situations, and are making changes when they feel they are needed, but this is not something that will be making it into the game at this time. If something like this does get into the game at some point in the future, we will be sure to let you know.
