For swearing! Why? Because these kids have FILTER OFF and see my swearing and report it in! It's complete BS! IF WoW does NOT want people to swear why give them the option to TURN OFF swear filter?! IT MAKES NO FREAKIN SENSE!!
Trilyanne (A GM) that WARNED ME via email and msg'd me on WoW could not answer this question and he just kept looping what he said ( he/she was clearly not listening nor gives 2 craps about what i ask him )
I'm a PAYING CUSTOMER! IF some kid wants to TURN OFF SWEAR FILTER then HE/SHE should be responsible for anything they see, not MY problem and i shouldnt be reported if they see it! I want the "warning" to be taken off and THIS issue to be fixed once and for all! EITHER don't allow people to remove filter or if they do and they see people swearing they can't whine about it!
FIX THIS, the reporting crap is getting lame! You get reported for every freaking thing in the game even if the other person clearly turns OFF a swear filter ( CLEARLY THEY WANT TO SEE SWEARING ) otherwise WHY WOULD YOU TURN IT OFF?!
BLUE you better post a reply and explain to me...

The distinctions between freedom and liberty are fine, but many.

Q u o t e: Not as much as if you'd said:
"Swearing is agains the rules. Breaking the rules will result in punishment. If you don't want to be punished then don't break the rules."
SO perhaps I should have said, "You aren't helping as much as you could be."
Now go push Operation Jackass on some devs!!!
Yeah, but I've already said that...and I hate to repeat myself.
I'll go look for that Operation yadda yadda you're talking about. My work here is done.
A thousand words are worth a thousand words.

Q u o t e: Even though tseric reeks of a demonology spec, hes still a good guy, and I find him very helpful and heartening.

You got a problem with an MD/Ruin spec, punk?
Huh?

This thread just won't die...
Ok, folks, here's the final word:
Example 1: I need to get some g#@!&s for this quest.
Example 2: Hey priest! Can I get some buf!@!e?
In these 2 examples, I demonstrate the fallability of the filter. These examples are something that could be said in game and are quite innocuous. However, with the filter on, they become less than legible. The filter will never be an adequate substitute for policies regarding swear words.
As such, the policies in place have nothing to do with the filter. They are not fashioned around it and do not even take it into account (except for one instance involving the name generator). The toggleable nature of the filter has no bearing on some moral decision to see or not see profanity.
To place any value on the filter is an attempt to eschew personal responsibility onto a machine or program (or others). That is the essential attempt of the OP.
To say there are unjust motives of others who report players for swearing is irrelevant. The Game Master staff will not split hairs and debate context, as that would be a true time-sink.
The policies are fashioned to set a community standard. If you do not wish to adhere to community standards, you will continue to be reported, I can almost guarantee it.
With that being said, swearing is not abolished in this or other games and I seriously doubt it will be. One of the basic issues at hand is that this occurred in a semi-public channel, with apparent strangers present. You want to curse with your friends? I don't think anyone will stop you. You want to curse with strangers present? Test your luck.
You agreed to terms and we are holding you to that agreement. That is all that has happened here.
EDIT - The thread broke, so I posted this here. Lucky I had the foresight to post in the middle of last night to reserve a good spot, eh?[ post edited by Tseric ]
