Subject: Are Warcraft Orcs similar to Tolkien Orcs?
I was thinking about this earlier...

Tolkien Orcs were said to be created from the corrupted souls and bodies of elves. If anyone remembers from the movie "LoTR: The Two Towers" Saruman was seemingly creating orcs, the movie didn't show the part of capturing elves and doing w/e it is they do to create them. The book just talked about how Orcs were created in general. Also, im not sure if I read that information in "The Two Towers" or "The Silmarillion" which was like the story of how middle earth was created. Anyway, basically orcs used to be elves. Also "The Silmarillion" talks about elves being immortal if unharmed, meaning they can live forever if nothing is there trying to murder them. That basically means that elves were the first race capable of always being around.

So...

Warcraft says their orcs are from Draenor, or Outland. I wonder though... Could it be deep lore that allows for elves to be seen as the first explorers of Draenor?

-If warcraft elves are immortal unless harmed, it could be said that they were among the first races.
-Warcraft elves have always had a deep interest in magic, mainly High Elves.

Did warcraft Orcs evolve from the creatures of Draenor or are they the product of what the evil forces of that world did to elven explorers?

The one hint that warcraft orcs could have evolved from elves is their ears. They share the same ears as elves (just green). Discuss? Flame?

There is no record of Elves exploring Draenor. Elves are native to Azeroth, and the first recorded connection between Draenor and Azeroth was during the First War, when the Dark Portal opened and the Orcs invaded. The "evil" influences of Draenor didn't exist until the Burning Legion came -- and that was long after the Orcs existed. Draenor was not an inherently corrupted place.

Orcs are considered "aliens" of Azeroth -- they are native to Draenor, and there is very little similarity between their race and that of the Elves. Pointy ear does not a relation make, and their ears aren't even all that similar.

The Elves are not immortal by nature, but rather were connected to the World Tree, thus granting them immortality. They are immortal no longer.

You are drawing too many parallels from the Silmarillion that simply aren't there, my friend. Elves were not the first race of Azeroth. Though history is rough on the subject, it's said that a primitive race first found the Well of Eternity and became what we know as Night Elves...

...funny, isn't it, how similar the Darkspear Trolls look to Night Elves when they stand straight? If you want to talk about "ear similarity", I wouldn't be looking at Orcs. :P
