Subject: Stats Question
   Why is it that:

- Strength/Agility provide direct melee bonuses and continue to do so in a significant way with epic weapons for melees

- Intellect [which is the only caster-only stat] does NOT provide (significant) spell bonuses and ends up working more like Stamina

?

I scan various caster posts out there and it seems that a common theme surrounds itemization - as melees gain better and better weapons at level 60, their strength and agility continue to make THOSE weapons even better.

Caster spells are stuck at what they were trained at. Int bonuses do nothing and are often traded for +damage or +crit. However, +damage is not scaled properly against the improvements made by +strength/+agility on already powerhouse weapons.

One of the reasons that spell power does not scale up in strength like melee weapons do, is because it is regulated by your manna pool. If you have a high mana pool, you can cast more spells causing more damage, which is on par with a melee user gaining strength to swing his sword, axe, or mace harder.

Intellect dictates your manna reserve, as stated above, not the strength of your spell casting. However, if you continue gaining points in your Intellect past 200, you will gain a small increase to your critical hit chance while casting spells. This increase is separate from any ones you gain from equipping certain weapons or pieces of armor.
