I can not tell you how many times I've heard people refer to this game as "wow" in real life. Please do not do this. WoW is an abbreviation. It's not that hard to add the three syllables to make it "world of warcraft." It's fine in writing, on the internet or in game, but not in real life! Thank you. My rant is over. I call it "Wow" in real life.
One syllable beats four, particularly when I'm speaking with a group who knows precisely what it means in context. :P
