Other than being a little sleepy, I'm doing great, thanks! What does everyone have on the agenda for today? Later I plan to take my Priest to do some questing around Tanaris and if I'm lucky, level to 43 *crosses fingers*.

I'm pretty much always playing solo when not doing an instance or helping someone else, and leveling really isn't very slow for me at all. My damage output is lower than I'm accustomed to, especially since I was most recently playing my Mage, but my survivability is quite high, and I really like the way the class plays. I'm building this character to be as support oriented as possible, so doing instances thus far has been more fun than questing but that's not to say that I don't enjoy both aspects of progression.
Also, I'm on a PvE realm.

Q u o t e: Good luck.
I read you are Disc/Holy.
Or are you cheating and leveling shadow to respec to disc/holy?
Actually, I'm Holy/Discipline, and no I'm not planning on putting points into Shadow at anytime, even for purposes of leveling. Currently, I have 25 points in Holy, and 8 in Discipline.
Q u o t e: I plan on killing a lot of little red dragons...
...by the way, what do you have planned after Tanaris?
Right after Tanaris, probably head over to Feathermoon. Feralis is actually one of my favorite zones in the game, and I've never done it as an Alliance character before. I'm really looking forward to the quests.

Q u o t e: Why? Do you not enjoy PvP?
I've never really enjoyed participating in player vs. player combat in any game. It's not my particular cup of tea. In this game, I do occasionally enjoy a good Warsong Gulch battle, but fundamentally I'd rather be questing or running an instance dungeon as a party or full raid group. I'll leave PvP to Ordinn and Caydiem.
I'm not even sure Ordinn does anything else. ;)

Actually, I've been pretty excited about that since having one has never been an option for any of my other characters. I will feel a little guilty bringing him out instead of my whelpling though.[ post edited by Eyonix ]

Q u o t e: Let me get this straight, you get paid to play wow, and sometimes come to the forums and give vague details of things that may or may not come to pass???
I'll be playing World of Warcraft when I'm off of work. I'm not sure what, beyond assumption, has led you to believe otherwise. In any case, we frequently provide information which most would not consider vague. If you've read something which you felt was vague, I assure you such was our only option.

Q u o t e: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-priest&T=121671&P=1
Huzzah says:
"Holy or Shadow?
Shadow.
Ok really, for a pre-50 priest there is no excuse not to be at least like ~21 shadow. Your first 5 points should be Spirit Tap, for any priest ever created, ever. The next 2 should be Improved Power Word: Pain, then do whatever you feel like. You do not need the 10% more efficient heals for pre-50 instances, you just need to collect 5 bear asses faster. The discipline talents for mana and holy talents for efficiency can really pay off after like 55... But until then it's not a post-worthy discussion. If you want to be Sir Healsalot, you're better off going mostly shadow so you more quickly get to a level where people give a crap about your heal efficiency. Post-50 respec into whatever your heart desires, just make doubly certain you don't post inane crap about it."
Srysrysry, I know you can play your priest however you want. But I leveled my priest as 31/20/0, and really, it was a mistake.
Plus, Huzzah is hilarious.
Well, I do sincerely appreciate the advice. The fact of the matter is, I'm having fun playing my Priest with talent points invested in Holy and Discipline. Even though I'd like to hit level 60 as quickly and efficiently as possible, I have other characters which have leveled to cap so I don't feel a need to rush, or play in a manner which is less appealing to me. I really enjoy the process of starting a character and progressing towards end-game. To be honest, I'm not really suffering from my decision. I've made it to level 42 with a /played of less than six days, a portion of which was spent 'afk' in IronForge.
A little history, both in beta and on the live retail realms the first character I had ever progressed past level thirty was a Mage. This was the character I made when my current interests were in soloing. Other than one Wailing Cavern's run (where I was both lost and confused) I hadn't even done an instance until my late 40s. It wasn't until frequent Sunken Temple and BRD runs that I discovered my love for grouping in instances. A love that only grew stronger once I began going on Scholomance and Stratholme raids. This is when I identified that a support character was perhaps more appealing, and thus my Shaman was born.
It was at this time that I had wanted to create another character anyway, as when the game went live, I created a guild which took off and the members quite supportive. Being in this guild provided me with some distinct advantages. Benefits that I realized players in smaller guilds, (or no guild at all), didn't have. I wanted to make it to end-game without these advantages, so I made a Shaman - a support class which appealed to my current interests of offering support in a group, and I gave him a name that was not revealed to any of my friends or guildmates. I leveled from 1 to 60, and achieved 7/8ths of my Elements set by relying on pick up groups, at which point I revealed myself to those in my guild and began doing Molten Core.
I really enjoyed the Shaman, but after days of /played devoted to just end-game raids, I decided to explore end-game with a character that wasn't a hybrid. One that could focus fully on support. Which brings us to the present date, my Priest is now level 42 and I'm speccing in a way which allows me the ability to offer optimal support. I'm really enjoying myself, and can't wait to begin collecting my Devout set, and then ultimately my purple sets. I've made many characters in this game beyond the Mage and Shaman, most of which are between the levels of 26 and 35. Playing a support character is by far what I enjoy the most and while Shadow may offer me something in the way of dps, it just doesn't appeal to me as much.

Q u o t e: So your guild knows you're Eyonix?
How come Caydiem's guild doesn't get to know she's Caydiem?
Hax, I say. Hax.
<3
When I stated that I revealed myself to the guild, I meant that I revealed myself as the character they knew - my Mage. There are a few real life friends in my guild, and a couple of people that I've known a while which know I'm a Community Manager for World of Warcraft. Beyond that it's best for us to keep this type of information to ourselves. In any case, my Priest is on a brand new realm, so I've started fresh and am currently in a very small but friendly guild.

Q u o t e: I don't mind you playing Holy w/ Devout to expose its flaws, but when you keep talking it up I get worried.
Talking it up? I've stated that I'm level 42 and am enjoying it thus far. I've not even reached the end of any tree. My main points in the discussion concerning talents have been against the need to spec in Shadow. I will play for myself and determine which build best suits my needs. I'm not playing to exploit any weakness, I'm playing because it's what I enjoy doing in my off time.
Q u o t e: Are you Horde or Alliance ?
Are you a fashion victim or you just think about stats ?
What is the spell you appreciate the most ?
If you had the choice between a Cat and a dog, which one would you take ?
What color are your eyes ?
If you had the choice between: A staff and a daguer, which one would you take ?
Do you like vegetable ? and which one ?
If you had to live somewhere in Azeroth/Kalimdor, where would you live ?
I'm a Night Elf Priest that loves both fashion and item stats. Granted, I won't wear something purely based on fashion, if I had to choose between two items and item (a) is only marginally worse than item (b) which looks nice or matches the rest of my outfit, I'll go with the latter.
Hmm, I'm on the wall with the cat and dog favoritism question. Years ago I would've without a doubt stated dogs, but over the last few years I've really grown attached to cats, specifically mine - "Warlockspit" and "Shamanheart".
My eyes, or my characters eyes? I guess the answer to both is the same, sadly - I really don't know.
I don't have preferences pertaining to item types. I wear which ever is better. If I were to use a dagger, I'd have to have a great off-hand item to make up for the stats I'd lose by using the dagger. Most often with casters in WoW, I'm using a staff.
Vegetables are good. Lately, I've been eating those carrot, cauliflower, celery things which come in a plastic container with the ranch dressing. Pretty tasty, and I don't have to put effort into making something!
Lastly, if I had to live somewhere in Azeroth or Kalimdor, I'd choose to live in Winterspring's Everlook because the wallpaper in the houses may be the best I've ever seen![ post edited by Eyonix ]

Q u o t e: Aww, we were hoping you were doing Holy to help suggest/understand/rely all of its flaws.
You're speccing complete Holy for FUN!?!?
Nobody said there's a *need* to spec shadow, it's just a ton easier and quicker to level with shadow.
You *could* level to 60 in your underwear if you wanted to, it's just not as easy.
Again, I'm doing that which I enjoy. I've played classes capable of unleashing damage very quickly and right now, that does not interest me. We will be providing the class designers with comprehensive feedback concerning the Holy tree before they begin the Priest talent review, just as we'll provide feedback concerning Discipline and Shadow. I will be able to provide feedback on all three Priest talent trees despite my build - just as the other members of my team are capable of doing, even those that don't currently have a high level Priest.

No. Our characters are normal play characters just like yours; no advantages whatsoever.
