Hunters that currently have pets with more than four activated abilities will be able to keep those pets the way they are in the upcoming patch. Without the ability to auto-cast from the spellbook, these pets would have the same bugs associated with them as they do now. For those of you that aren't aware, turning off auto-cast in the current retail version and removing the ability from the petbar will only prevent it from auto-casting until you logout or zone. The most obvious side effect was that pets would be casting Growl and Cower at the same time which obviously affects their ability to hold agro. This is one of the primary reasons that the ability to auto-cast from the spellbook was added even though new pets are limited to 4 activated abilities.

If it wasn't intended that our pet keep their old abilities, why was the ability to toggle pet skills not on the pet bar implemented? And why is Hortus under the impression that it WAS intended that current pets keep their abilities?
