Subject: A local Australian server
   A local Australian server

As a 4th year computer engineering student and having worked to provide network and computer solutions since 1999 I can appreciate the difficulty in implementing a remote server abroad as well as providing a service internationally. However it is certainly not impossible and I believe I represent the Australian WoW community in stating (suggesting) that this is something we would like.

Being a keen WoW player I can clearly see Blizzards motivation behind developing this game is to entertain and provide an enjoyable service that keeps on evolving and improving, so I'll abstain from asking if the decision to not implement a local server for Australians is just based on profit margins.

Firstly, is there any one reason why Blizzard has not implemented a local server for us?

I can only speculate however issues that come to mind are:

Server implementation:
If a technician could contact me with the requirements I could personally arrange quotes for hosting fees from our largest ISP's as well as initial and ongoing hardware costs for Blizzard to take to the publishers accounting departments or contact VU Australia myself.

Software security/confidentiality:
Distributing such critical and confidential software out of the country can be a daunting thought however we Australians are very professional and again I personally would be willing to sign confidentiality/liability agreements and solicit my time to implement, update and configure this software.

Server maintenance and ongoing commitment:
Finding qualified staff abroad for an ambitious project like this can be a big money spender, however the skilled Australian workforce is very strong especially in the Information technology and customer service industries. I myself could recommend many infinitely qualified colleagues that would love to jump at the opportunity to work with Blizzard here in Australia both full and part time.

I have no doubt that Blizzard and its publishing company have already considered and examined providing a local server for Australia. Although when knowing this service could be organised and implemented by myself or a multiple of other firms in Australia in a matter of just weeks, I plead for answers for me and the rest of the Australian WoW community as to why it has not been done.

Thank you,

Ryuryan an Australian player on the Blackrock server

We have been busy bringing this game to many different countries. We have done so by our own business plan and time-table. I apologize if you feel particularly ignored, but realize it is not our intention to exclude anyone from this game. As it stands, you aren't exluded now, you just aren't in exactly the place you would like to be. I can bring up your concerns, but understand, we have a great deal to manage in our current situation. Your concerns are heard and considered, but I can not comment on any future business plans like this.
