Subject: Blue, Animation Issues
There are a lot of eyesores in the animations of World of Warcraft.

Don't get me wrong. For the most part, the graphics in WoW are stunning (IMO). But there are certain things that just get under my skin.

Here you spend ALL this time on creating stormwind and the intrcate details that go into the city. But, at the same time when I put on a cloak and two handed weapon, the weapon art STICKS through the cloak art... It is a SERIOUS eyesore.

There are many things in this game that do that kind of stuff. I understand that some of it is not worth the time to animate (like your cloak going INTO the windriders, when flying), but surely the extremly noticable ones can be addressed?

Q u o t e:
I'm not an animator or anything. But it seems that certain things can be BEHIND other things.

Like how your tabbard goes IN FRONT of your breastplate. Why not just put the 2h weapon in front of the cloak, and try to make it work from there? Because right now, it looks to me that the 2h weapon is BEHIND the cloak, which is making it poke out.

Er.

The "behind/in front" situation you're referring to is fantastic for textures, which is what the tabard to breastplate appearance happens to be. Cloaks and weapons, however, are hard geometry, and don't work quite in the same way. The art team is well aware of the clipping, but there's not much of an elegant, easy-to-implement solution available right now.

What I am also really curious about is, why did Blizzard not allow "height" or weight, or "facial structue" when creating your character.

In games I have played in the past, you could control this. It's an irritation of mine, that my Troll looks EXACTLY like every other troll, every undead is the same height/weight as EVERY OTHER undead...

There should be a "plastic surgurn" goblin that gets implemented into the game, to change your height/weight/facial structure.

Cause looking at the same ole character modles is gettin old :)

Because those self-same options can often cause even more of the clipping you dislike. It needs to be implemented gracefully, and that takes a great deal of time that our team felt was better spent on other aspects.
