Can we use codec compression (such as Divx) on the movies? 25mb uncompressed is less than 30 seconds.
Sure, just make sure its a free codec so we, and others, can view your video.

Is it assumed that we automatically know what kind of movie to make?
I.e. should it be like machinima where you merely use the game engine as a renderring platform to tell your story (movies of this sort would be like Chronicles of a Newbie)?
Should it be like a trailer where it's just demonstrating gameplay?

Also, as someone previously asked, is DivX encoding allowed?
Any free codec is allowed, just make sure you list which one you use when you submit your movie
Can we modify the Blizzard audio? (i.e. cut and splice, enhance it by adding other intruments to help compensate for the MIDIesqueness of some of them?

Can original/royalty-free audio tracks be used as well? (not that we would necessarily want to, but it would be nice to know our full range of options)

We'll open the submission page on Sept. 8. You can submit files up to 25mb via the submission tool.

does blizzard realize just how small 25mb is? The quality of the "movie" will suffer with this limit.
Is there any plans to make a snail mail address for people who want to make a more cinematic movie. If we could make a dvd that would be awesome.
Im just suggesting that the 25mb file size be looked at. That is maybe a 20-30 second movie at crappy resolution/quality.
We realize that 25mb my compromise the quality of the video, and we may request uncompressed video from the winners.

Sorry about that, the file submission form will now accept a 26,214,400 byte file(25MB).
