My best friend and I have been planning for 3 weeks to have fun in battlegrounds by leveling up a couple of characters and gear them out. We just hit 30 a couple of days ago and poured hundreds of gold into getting good gear and enchants to make our alts viable opponents in WSG and AB. We just started playing in WSG and were having a blast killing horde.
But now, for the i-don't-know-how-many-times, Blizzard goes and changes the rules without giving a hint in advance that it was being considered. I agree that it shouldve been this way from the start because of the 51-60 problems. But that is the ONLY bg that needed help. All the other bg's were just fine. You have just seriously screwed over ALOT of people Blizzard. Me and my best friend now have to spend ALOT more time and money to again be viable in the battlegrounds.
Blizzard is the company that likes to waste people's time. I am so ashamed to have put my faith in you thinking you were a company I could trust. Well now it's apparent, I have been wasting my time here. If this is how it's going to be in the future, Blizzard, I do not know if I even want to be here anymore. /cry :(

All other brackets were fine, eh?
I submit for your examination Exhibit A: 31-40. There is one major problem with this bracket: level 40 characters can have mounts. If you were under 40 in this bracket, you found yourself at quite a disadvantage while players at cap and with the funds to afford a mount shot right by you.
All right, you might think, so there are only two brackets that really have issues. 21-30 and 41-50 were fine. And you're right; for the most part they were pretty fair and enjoyable. I myself have a level 50 character that I have kept at that level specifically because I enjoyed playing Warsong Gulch in that bracket.
However, there's balance to consider, and the X0-X9 was the best way to keep things fair while avoiding the major advantages at cap.
Personally, I'm in the same boat you were -- I have a character that I previously used in Warsong in a particular bracket I enjoyed, and now I need to level him again and try out a new bracket. It will take work. But y'know, I don't think it's going to be any less fun when I get back in there. Different, certainly; more challenging at first, definitely; but the gameplay that I enjoy will still be there without any major unbalancing traits as there were previously.
I ask that you give the new brackets a chance. :)

Q u o t e: I hope they fire a couple of CMs for this when a lot of people cancels their accounts. I know a lot will. Most of them are people who enjoy warsong gulch. I'm tired of the way CMs pushing their own ideas to the devs while ignoring others.

This is an idea that was asked for repeatedly on the General, PvP and Suggestions forum, posted by concerned players seeing severe balance issues in their matches. The primary problem was 51-60, but 31-40 factored in heavily as well. While I am flattered that you are of the mind that I devised this idea by my lonesome, I assure you it was borne from the fingertips of many a player ever since Warsong was available for play.

Q u o t e: Did it even occur to you that the rest of the people who enjoy warsong gulch are too busy enjoying the game to post their concerns in that petition? Seriously, 7 pages? I can get 15 pages of petition just in one class section. Invulnerable mail petition in shaman forums has reached more than 10 pages already.
You took the voice of a minority because you agreed with them while the majority who is enjoying the game gets screwed.
Perhaps you missed this, but I'll say it again -- there were a multitude posts, ever since Warsong was released, asking for this. Unfortunately this forum does not have a very long history on it, or I'd happily link you to several, but once the patch notes go live each forum becomes flooded, kicking older posts out.
Where did I say I agreed with the change? If you'll recall, I've kept a character at level 50 specifically for Warsong Gulch. Now that character is no longer at the top of the heap. I will have to level him, get new gear, etc., all of which takes time; I was fine with the brackets as they used to be. I am not, despite your belief, pushing my own agenda. What I am doing is passing along player feedback from the forums that was voiced time and time again over the months Warsong has been available. I don't seem to recall much of a disagreement amongst the community in those threads, either.
Your insinuation regarding my motivations, while interesting, is baseless and untrue. I do thank you for putting voice to your opinion, however, and I will pass along your concerns regarding the change to the developers. I believe it's important for you to note, though, that they did take your particular situation into consideration when discussing the change and still decided it was for the best.

Well, I did speak with the developers about it. They are still happy with the new bracket system. It allows the best balance for both the present system and any future additions that may come our way. While I understand that many of you optimized your character to be the best at level 30, that wasn't necessarily a supported means of play in Warsong Gulch. You can still level to 39 and optimize your character at that level if you so choose.

Q u o t e: Wow, do you not see how you contradicted yourself?
"Oh, you can't twink at level 30 anymore, but you can go ahead, gain a few levels and twink again."
There is apparently another reason behind the change, and you're not telling us.
Nope, not contradicting myself, actually. I'll happily explain further if you're confused about my saying it's "not supported".
What this means is as follows: having a level 30 twinked character used solely for Warsong Gulch is fine and dandy; it breaks no rules. At the same time, however, it's not really intended behavior, and so the developers aren't going to design around that particular method of playing the Battleground. They are changing the brackets to make the level ranges even (X0-X9, as opposed to the rest of the proposed brackets which are all over the map) and account for the drastically imbalanced previous bracket of 51-60. (31-40 is a lesser but serious consideration, also, with 31 point talents, 300-skill profession items, mounts, etc. as a player mentioned earlier.) This keeps it even across the board and also allows for continued growth upward if we ever choose to raise the level cap.

Q u o t e: Where is the imbalance in 21-30?
If you'll notice, I didn't say there was one. In fact, I've said repeatedly that 21-30 and 41-50 were for the most part fine.
However, if we're changing the whole kit and caboodle, an even distribution is best for balance purposes, and that's what we're delivering. I've brought your feedback to the developers as well as the varied new bracket suggestions, but the brackets look to be staying as the X0-X9 versions.

Q u o t e: Bingo. I'll be among the quitters if this change goes live.
BTW, I'm 90% sure this isn't about pleasing the community. They are simply killing off the most popular bg because there is no time sinks at level 30, there is no raid dungeons to spend 8 hours a day in, this is an attempt to kill it off to force you to a higher level for more mindless PvE "action".
Interesting but untrue theory. This is a balance change and a response to player feedback.
