Why is blizzard opening more servers when there is allready low population servers out there such as Gurubashi? Many people have begun leaving these "low" population servers for the higher population servers such as Warsong.
Is there anything blizzard plans on doing to stop this? I don't like the idea that my new server is going to soon be dead while my old server is going to have crazy queues to get in.

Q u o t e: A strange side-effect of how Blizzards servers report population: The numbers that make the server show as "low" "medium" or "high" are caculated by not only how many players are playing, but as well as how many characters have been created on the server.
Wrong.
The population numbers are based on current active players -- the threshold between low, medium, high and full, however, is something we can manually set, so what is medium for one realm may not be so for another.
EDIT: Every realm that we have has at least Medium population at peak times -- there are no drastically desolate realms, and we did need the capacity despite popular opinion. That said, there is a disparity between some realms that are overcrowded and some realms that only hit Medium population at peak times -- we are working to alleviate that disparity, and you'll see some transfers go into effect in the near future.[ post edited by Caydiem ]

Q u o t e: LOL. so they could like set the 'medium' threshold to like 500 people. then say "All our servers get 'medium' population during peak times (which is PEAK as in, friday or saturday night; so like ONCE a WEEK these servers will hit 'medium'). Then they say "it's all good, we releasing more servers! no servers are dying!" but none of their server tech's actually go on those servers and try to do raids.
basically, it looks good to say "We have 100 active servers in north america!"
When I say Medium in this case, it's well in the thousands. Thank you for the speculation, however. :)
