Subject: Itemization Depency is a good thing
To hear warriors talk about it, being item dependant is the most horrible thing on earth. An often heard comment is that a naked mage would own a naked warrior. While probably true, I dont seem to have a problem with naked warriors ganking me. Given moderate gear, they are about balanced. Given excellent gear, melee owns.

Now, before I go further, let me clarify that this is not about nerfing warriors or buffing mages, this applies to ALL melee and casting classes.

The problem is, nobody aspires to have crappy gear. It constantly improves, and each new patch adds better gear for everyone. Melee getting more benefits from this gear, especially weapons, makes them increasingly powerful. Obviously, we cant adjust all the classes every patch to compensate for this, so I suggest one of the following take place:

1. Make caster itemization equivelent to melee itemization.

2. Have drops of higher rank spellbooks in epic dungeons, comparable in power and drop rate to similar melee weapons.
Does anyone think "learn to play your class" helps?

We're already improving caster itemization, and with the release of the latest patch, casters should begin finding items that are more than satisfying. Concerning your second proposal, we do plan to add spells and abilities, however, at this time I don't have any information to provide.

You should also keep in mind, that a "naked" warrior taking on a "naked" mage, isn't taking advantage of one of his abilities, which is plate mail. The type of armor available to a class should be considered as much a part of the class as any other ability.

Q u o t e:
Eyonix - What?

That, as they say, "doesn't make a lick of sense". 99.9% of plate suits in the game have no resists to mage abilities, or resists so trivial as to not affect the outcome of the fight.

How does Plate give you an advantage against someone doing damage that isn't affected by armour? Your answer is just wierd.

My point was, comparing the strengths of two "naked" classes at level 60 isn't a valid way to measure balance, as the equipment potential, along with all other class defining abilities for each class is taken into serious consideration during all stages of development. I'm sorry if my language was a bit off. Mostly, it was meant as an afterthought. The main point of my thread can be found in my first paragraph.
