As most people know feral forms for druids are severely hurting DPS wise. This is due to the fact that unlike other classes druid forms do not take weapon damage tables into account and instead use a entirely different table. While I do agree certain forms do have definate bonuses there still remains a severe DPS desparity to even the lowest of DPS classes. While feral gear negates this somewhat the tradeoff is usually not worth it. Though I am in no way implying that druids need to do extreme DPS in forms especially due to all their other extra abilities and adding direct DPS to forms is a difficult balance act.
Solution?: Currently weapon procs and enhancements (besides stat and passive) do nothing for a feral form. We cannot proc or use +damage enhancements to weapons for feral builds. A solution would be to finally allow druids to use procs off weapons in form and damage enhancements. While this in my opinion wouldnt solve the feral druid issue it would definately bring it up to a higher bar. Not only that but it would encourage different builds and playstyles, and contribute to the already lacking amount of gear useful to druids.
"So how is a druid going to proc with claws?": This has often been the excuse for not giving procs to druids in form is that the weapon is not what the druid uses. Well although I bring this argument out from a gameplay balance perspective there is plenty of reason they should gain the enhancements from a RP perspective also. When a druid shifts it gains the armor abilities from what its currently wearing, I suppose you could assume then that the druid integrates its armor along with its form making it actually become part of them in a sense (assuming since I dont see bears wearing capes and shoes). While I could see an argument that the weapon would become part of their claws or jaws also I think it would probably have to be a overhaul of the whole feral system to integrate weapon damage into the formula. A better solution/addition would be to allow procs and weapon enhancements though. You could see it as the magic imbruing the druids animal talents with whatever magic they posses, therefore allowing claws or jaws to flame contain poison or whatever other magic ability you can become endowed with.
Personally I think the druid is a great class and have no real complaints. It would be foolish to state that feral DPS is fine however, and it definately needs some form of improvement. As I stated I can see the difficulty in balancing a class with as many abilities as a druid by simply adding on the DPS. I feel giving druids a random melee bonus ability to proc from their weapon form would contribute while at the same time not overshadow any other class or overpower the druid, and would most likely be relatively simple to implement. Something to definately think about.

There are no plans to give Druids procs in animal form at this time. It's been brought up, but the developers do not feel it would benefit the balance of the game.
